I've been reading this forum diligently for weeks and I've never read about anyone doing what we do and wondered if it's just us who does this.... Staying a multiple (2-3) hotels on comps?
My husband and I stay for 1 week (Or a bit more) at a time and we play approx $200 per day or less *each of us* all over the the place (New York, Paris, Luxor etc.) in whatever hotel we are visiting or walking through. We have also stay/played at Ceasars Windsor here in Canada a couple times (and redeemed 4 free nights there). So we get offers from both TR & MLife. We also play MyVegas a lot so have offers we can redeem there. Therefore, when we go we end up staying a couple nights at one hotel then switching to another hotel for a few nights. Does anyone else do this? Is it really better to be loyal to one program/property group then playing both (in terms of getting the most from your comps)???

For example, Next week we are staying 1 night at Luxor (Myvegas reward), 3 nights at Aria (my work is paying for that for a conference) then 2 nights at Ballys (1 comped 1 at $40). (Guess TR offers were low bc we just spent 3 free nights at Ceasars Windsor in Oct and haven't been back since). We haven't yet stayed at any of these hotels so we're excited to try them!

Thanks for your feedback on above questions.

You're obviously new to VMB or you would have seen countless posts from people moving around to take advantage of room offers. I certainly do it; and even when I can stay free at one place, I still like to mix it up a bit. Many casinos belong to the same loyalty program that helps in accumulating additional comps.

Absolutely... MANY here on VMB do that and I'm sure will chime in. I don't, but my visits are short and primarily business related. It's very "normal" to use the comps to keep the overhead costs of the Vegas visits minimal.

There hasn't been any posts lately about it, but there are a lot of people here who switch hotels (or multibook) during a trip in order to take advantage of comps and offers.

My wife and I usually stay 6 or 7 nights, 5 nights would be considered a short trip for us. For our first 6 or 7 trips we would stay at one property but then during the trip for a change of scenery (we'd usually stay at Luxor, Excalibur or Monte Carlo) we'd end up taking the monorail, bus or taxi to the other end of The Strip. Then we started breaking up our stay where we might do 3 nights at the south end of The Strip and then 3 nights at the other end so that we could see and take advantage of the whole strip and also have the room nearby or sometimes because of some offer, IE: Monte Carlo might offer us 3 comp nights with $150 in free play and $150 in F&B and we do that for the start of the trip and then stay at Harrah's, which might give us 3 comp nights and $100 free play, for the last half of the trip. That way we get to spend some solid time at the south end and see and do all those casinos and then see and do the place as the other end.

Every other trip we will usually add a stay Downtown for 1 or 2 nights just to mix it up.

For people thinking about hotel hopping during a stay my best tip is: you should always progress upwards in hotel/room quality as the trip progresses, IE: you don't want to stay at a nice corner suite at Aria for 3 nights, then at Fremont Downtown for a night and then 2 nights at The Flamingo in a basic room - if you do that then it feels like your trip is getting worse and worse at it goes along.

Another thing would be: a lot of people don't like the idea of having to pack up to switch hotels. What we do is pack along two bags where the first bag has the clothes and things we will need for the first hotel and the second bag has everything we need for the second half of our stay so when we check in to the first hotel we never touch the second bag and then only have to stuff things back in to the first bag when we switch hotels. For things like toiletries that we need for both parts of the stay we keep that all in a small bag in the first case that just gets moved to the second bag when we switch hotels.

And then the last thing being: a lot of people don't like the idea of having to check out, move to the new hotel, and then go through the check in process again - thats the only real downside, but personally I find that it actually makes the trip as a whole feel longer and moving to a new hotel sometimes makes it feel like a whole new trip starting over again.

I've been doing it for years. It's a little inconvenience but it's worth it.

PS: Checking my records, the last time I stayed in just a single Vegas hotel was in 2001 and there have been 86 trips since then! Staying in 3 or 4 hotels is not unusual; and checking in and out, at least where I stay, is usually fast and easy. Of course, since most trips are for a week or longer, the time spending moving is of little consequence. Almost forgot, on the May trip, it's GC, Orleans, and back to GC to take advantage of free weekends and the 72-hour separation between offers. Using their free shuttle is a piece of cake!

I no longer double book (i.e. Same nights in multiple hotels) just to collect freeplay but I almost always stay in multiple hotels to take advantage of comps. I really like switching hotels...it is like having two or three different vacations rolled into one. I haven't locked everything down for my May trip yet as I only have my Cosmo offer up until mid May and I'm going on the 25th but so far the plan is to spend the first night at Palms (flight arrives at 9pm) just because I really like it there and wanted to spend at least one night. Night 2 and 3 in comped Cosmo terrace studio, night 4 and 5 in my new favourite pool season suite, a poolside villa at Tropicana.

I rarely stay in CET Casinos these days but still give enough play to have comp back up rooms there it would seem as there are always some on the calendar. I would like to try Cromwell though as I really love the Casino and I do enjoy PHo Casino as well.

I didn't stay at Wynncore last year so will likely go back there next trip for a few nights before those offers dry up.

We are trying it for the first time on our upcoming trip. We are starting out at PH and moving to NYNY. I'm not looking forward to having to move, but hoping that it will be worth it.

We are moving four times this trip. We like to mix it up a bit and stay in different locations. Like Breanna said, each move is like a new mini vacation.

I think I must be in the minority. I never change hotels. My Vegas trips are between 4-6 nights. I fly in, but I can see that for someone that drives to Las Vegas it may be less of a hassle. I'm in Vegas 8 or 9 times a year and I've done most of the touristy things......hiked Red Rock, gone to the Hoover Dam a number if times and hit every casino on the strip.
I've played downtown before, but prefer to be on the strip.

I stay in multiple hotels as well. I get numerous offers for 2-3 free nights at various casinos, but I like to stay for at least 6 or 7 nights. This coming trip i'm staying at Gold Coast, Four Queens and Main Street Station. Free, variety and minimal hassle.

Hotel hopping can be fun, if done right. I'm often combining comps, offers, and a paid night or two to maximize time. My upcoming trip is one night at MGM (MyVegas), then two at Cosmo (comp offer).

I'll echo the sentiment about 'moving up' the hotel chain, not down. My last trip was two at Mandalay Bay, then two at Monte Carlo. I was forced into that switch due to blackout dates. Nothing wrong with the MC...I've stayed there the most, but the quality difference is obvious. It can be a letdown.

I am another that loves to change locations. My upcoming trip will be 5 night at Caesars Palace, 3 nights at Palazzo and 3 nights at Wynn. Next will be those plus Red Rock and possibly Tropicana. I have stayed at MB, Delano ,Paris, Rio and PH in the last few years. I have never double booked a hotel.

What do you do with your luggage between the check out time vs the next hotels check in time? We are staying on the strip, then downtown, then back to the strip and that's the only part i'm not sure about. Is it better to go to the next hotel right after checking out to try to check in early?

I usually check out at the latest time possible and head straight to the next casino to check in. If there are any issues with being there to early I'll just check my luggage with the bellhop.

We usually get a late check out. If we have a car we may just go somewhere planned for a nice lunch, then go check in at the next stop.

We always stay in at least 2 locations each trip. We've even doubled booked on the same night and taken mini vacations to another property and then return to our 'base' hotel.

We have done it a couple times but the wife is not really a big fan. Last year I booked three comped nights at PHO followed by three comped nights at MGM with a double booking on the third night. That worked out great because I was able to check in late Tuesday and on Wednesday we were able to take our luggage straight up to the room without having to check in. I wanted to do it this year but the wife nixed it. She really likes PHO and the surrounding area.

I got a different offer from NYNY that will cover all of our nights, so I went ahead and switched to avoid having to change. We've stayed at PH before and really enjoyed it, but we decided that we would prefer the ease staying in one place on this trip.
