If anyone has info on eat place to watch or better yet info on the races on during that time so I can do my research it would be much appreciated!!!
    Cheers folks

The Wesgate ,formally the Hilton has an old school Vegas look to it....there's a small snack place nearby.. drink service is good.
Most major casinos have good race/sports books.. Mirage is nice.... I like Harrahs because it's close to the casino and has bartop video poker.

Santa Anita is probably the track you want to play. They have a downhill 6 1/2 furlong sprint that has a twist, a turn, crosses the dirt on the way to the finish line... i play that track a lot... When it gets closer I'll give you some links for handicapping info etc. and if I have something I really like I'll post it for you and any others that are interested.

I know the Mirage has a good book for horse players. Not sure of food there, never ate. Never been to Emeril's Stadium but I hear good things about it.

I like watching the horses at Bellagio myself, decent drink service, comfortable seats, etc...plenty of free racing forms

when i first started to go to vegas there were no books in the casinos... on the strip was Churchill Downs in a little strip mall that also included Little Caesars where Bob stupak won a million on the super bowl after a tiff with his girlfriend... downtown and a couple other places there was Leroys....

there was a track in vegas one time called LasVegasDowns... out by where the convention center is... they were hoping california horsemen would flock to it.... trouble was the heat was intolerable to the horses and most of the visitors didn't care about it... a couple years and it was gone.

Equibase is a good site for the daily entries and updated scratches..Looks like you will be leaving one week before the Kentucky Derby but you may be able to put in a futures bet still before the actual/true field and Post Positions drawn...But horseracing still has a nice presence in the casino books with individual tvs you can set to different tracks and usualy comped drinks also...Tell us where you are staying and folks can narrow down thier favorite places...Best wishes!

I recall Las Vegas Downs as a dog track, not horses.

OP, if you have a clock radio in your room there is a radio show hosted by Ralph Siraco daily I believe where they often give out some decent winners.

Best tracks during that period in my very humble opinion: Gulfstream (Florida) , Keenland (Kentucky), Aqueduct (New York), Santa Anita (California), and Churchill Downs (Kentucky) which opens April 25.

Best books in my opinion: Mirage, Westgate, Caesars, Bellagio

Mirage has several restaurants (CPK Pizza, Carnegie Deli) that you can grab food to go and eat at the sports book.

    Cheers!

Tram from Monte Carlo will take you to Bellagio easy enough, I think there are some decent horse players there most of the time. Caesar's is easy enough to get to from that tram stop as well, and Mirage is only a short walk past that; so I thin kyou should find some good racing fans in one if not all 3 of those locations. Aria is close by you from MC (easy inside walk) but is small and often quiet except at big race or game times.
