I like to drink different brands of root beer, the brands like Virgil, Boylan, Route 66 etc (the good stuff that is made from pure cane sugar). I am not as interested in the fast food chain variety.

In Vegas, I was never able to get root beer while playing, they don't even carry the mass product, let alone the specialty ones. Only exception is Ellis Island, with their awesome in-house root beer, but I don't like playing there.

So, are there any stores that sell a good variety of root beer brands around the strip, so I can stock up in my room? Also, any other casino besides Ellis Island, that would offer any while playing?

    Thanks

The Pub in Monte Carlo brews their own root beer (not sure if that's still the case). It was very good.

I'm pretty sure Chicago Brewing at 4 Queens comps their beer at the bar, which has pretty good VP if that is your game of choice. I'm not sure about getting it on the floor in the rest of the casino.

Culinary Drop-Out (Hard Rock) sells a pretty good one called Joe's that's brewed over in Henderson at Joseph James Brewing Co. I get it with my shaved prime rib dip sandwich... makes for a GREAT lunch!!!

I also like the root-beer that BJ's brews up, but then I'm not one of those who thinks their head will explode walking into a... dare I say it... "chain"!!!!

If that Joe's Root Beer is anything like their actual beers, I'd expect it to be good!

In early 2013 my daughter had a great bottled root beer at Desnudo Tacos from a Southern Nevada brewer named Joseph James. I don't see the root beer on their website, but if they still make it I'm sure it's available in Vegas somewhere considering they are local.

It's true, Four Queens Chicago Brewing Co. has an excellent root beer.

The root beer at Ellis Island is also very good. I've had the one from Chicago Brewing company, also good. And they had real root beer at Binion's rib place, but, it might have come from across the street at Chicago Brewery.

I used to live in Seattle, and that's where I got hooked to root beer :) There was a store in Pike Place Market (on the same row with the Piroshky place) and I sampled a lot of great root beer brands. Also, almost all native casinos around Seattle carried at least a mass brand of root beer.

I guess the root beer as well as "whole" crab legs culture of Northwest wasn't well regarded in the desert :( I don't enjoy the Vegas buffet crab legs at all, splitting them up kills the flavor for some reason.

I do not like root beer in general, not a fan of it but can tolerate it at times. Tried at Chicago Brewing at Four Queens and thought it was good. Only drawback was no free refill.

If you are playing VP at the bar at Chicago Brewing they will definitely keep your glass full (root beer or otherwise). They have 9/6 DDB with progressive on the royal and all 4OAK's - pretty sure this is best DDB game you will find at bartops since the days when Excalibur had 10/6 DDB by the sportsbook.

Oh - and the root beer is really good!

OMG, I haven't had that in YEARS, DECADES!

Boylans and Masons used to be my faves when I was a kid. The stuff that most places sell anymore is just root beer flavored soda and not real root beer. I also used to love the drive-in style real root beer but it seems like that's a vanishing breed! :(

Funny story and still hear it like it was yesterday. Was on shuttle van in San Antonio about twenty five years ago, stopped and picked up a group of Aussies. They had just boarded and one said, vending machine had beer! He popped open the can of root beer and his Aussie accent, " Christ! This isn't beer, it tastes like cough syrup!"

This is slightly off topic, but I am too like Root Beer (Ginger Ale is the only other soda I like), and if you want an alcohol version, Not Your Father's Root Beer is great and can be found in Wisconsin and Illinois.

After some research, I found Rocket Fizz soda & candy shop. They carry lots of good root beer and specialty sodas and candies. Not that close to Strip, but a quick drive it seems. http://www.rocketfizz.com/

@shifter - well, not always. There were some casino buffets around Seattle that had perfectly good snow crab legs. I think what you say applies to Vegas mostly (underserve and overcharge philosphy).
