Ever try something the second time and it just wasn't as good?

During my first trip to Vegas, my wife and I stayed at the Monte Carlo and we took the monorail down to Harrah's. As we were walking from the monorail exit we walked passed Toby Keith's and noticed a nice looking woman walking on top of the bar pouring drinks directly into people's mouths. We thought it looked like a fun place to visit for a drink so we went inside. We had such a good time that I think we stayed there for close to 6 hours, from 1pm-7pm. We meet a lot of nice people and without it being planned it just turned into a great party and it is still one of our most favorite moments in Las Vegas.

We have gone to Vegas between 15-20 times and we go back to Toby Keith's at least once each trip, and usually twice, but it has never been that much fun again. it is still nice to be there and say remember when, but I don't think we will ever experience an afternoon like that again.

What about you? Have you ever done something in Las Vegas that was so much fun the first time so you keep going back hoping to repeat that event without success?

That is fairly common and why there is a saying that covers many different areas "There is nothing like your first time."
It is true in so many ways.

caesars bacchanal buffet and the rio's village seafood buffet

I have try them and they were great the first visit but on the second visit the food was not as good and not the same items. I have not gone to a Buffet in Vegas since 2012.

I was going to try wicked spoon , Aria's and Wynn's buffets but have not and may not anytime soon.

Must be a buffet thing. We tried Le Village at Paris, after flying in that day, drinking at the pool, I was ravenous. I thought it was the best food on earth! Went back and was like, wth?? This is what I got so excited about??

    Yes, Las Vegas.

My first trip here (currently at Brand Steakhouse at Monte Carlo) was in 1999 with a new job. I was almost $1M in debt having just lost a business. I popped my entire gambling budget of $20 into a Wheel of Fortune slot and cashed out $48.50! Left town the next morning with a 143% profit!

Nearly 160 trips since then, a few mega winners but more losers than I care to admit.

But as the ******s say #YOLO!

MANY times! Too many times to even think of just one.

However, I have a very memorable THIRD time that I had this experience. It was at N9NE Steakhouse. Our first two times there were amazing! The food was perfect, the service was excellent, overall amazing experiences. However, on our third visit, the service was MEH, the food was just a notch above edible, no more free refills on soft drinks, the prices had went up, and we didn't even have our favorite dessert because we just wanted to get out of there.

There is an economics term for this. If I remember from University many years ago, it was called "diminishing marginal utility".
Basically, the more you have of something, the progressively less you enjoy it.

Bingo! So true is so many things in life. Always chasing that same feeling that you get the first time you experience something new.

Last year in June we went to Pinup Pizza outside Planet Hollywood. It was so good that we stopped there three times on our visit for a late night snack. In November my husband and I took my son and his girlfriend there. It was not at all close to being as good. I did not even finish my slice of pizza...my husband agreed as well that it was not as good as the last time we were there. Hopefully, when I get back this year, it is back to being good again.
