thinking about renting a car for a day while at the MGM so we can go downtown and a couple side trips, any ideas on rates i am thinking just a round trip in a cab to downtown might be a little less than a 1 day rental, also when you rent at a casino how does the return work do they have a dedicated desk

I just saw the part about a couple of side trips. If you just need to go downtown I would recommend the Deuce.

It's a double decker bus that travels the strip and goes downtown.

    It's only $8 for 24 hours.

I believe that MGM has a dedicated car rental desk.

MGM has a Dollar Rent a Car desk and NYNY has Avis, Tropicana has Enterprise. Rates are date specific. Last year we rented a midsize at NYNY, I used a discount code, reserved online and picked up a Hyundai Sonata for the day, it was a fast and painless process. Just be aware of the operating hours for each location as the desk is not staffed all the time.

I usually do a one-day rental with Hertz @ Cosmo. You drop off the car at a dedicated section of the parking garage and leave the keys in the drop box.

For a trip to the Downtown area, I'd prob. go with the Deuce route like the other poster mentioned.

Every major casino has a rental agency. Another thought which might yield you a cheaper rate.... Enterprise will pick you up and drop you off at your hotel so you might want to consider renting from one off strip.

Agreed, but I don't think they have the facility taxes as airport rentals, plus you can easily walk to pick up the car. No taxi or bus, so there is a convenience factor. You might even be able to snag a discount code online and reduce the rate.

I booked with Avis (they do not require a CC hold of 200 when picking up) and am picking it up at Aria and dropping off at Mandalay Bay. Cost is $54 with all taxes and fees included for a mid sized car. I would have gotten a compact but its only $4 more for the midsized which gets better MPG and I plan on doing quite a bit of driving that one day I will have it so better MPG makes me happy.

Will they give you a ride back to the strip after you bring the car back?

Yes, they will give you a ride back to the strip but not to the airport.
