    My Trip Report

    2/27-3/2 : Wynn for 3 nights & tracking spreadsheet

Background: First time trip report here. 12th trip to Vegas and typically play BJ 95% of the time. The actual words/pics will probably be somewhat minimal but I will post the spreadsheet I used throughout the trip to track everything. I know that some/most will think it’s dumb or too tedious or pointless, but tracking like this is fun to me and I can see exactly where I sit on my gambling success/failure. I have the Google Sheets app on my phone and can update it in seconds.

Here is the link to the Google sheet. At the bottom you can click on the separate tabs for each day.

Room: 3 nights comped at Wynn in a deluxe resort double. (don’t’ ask how I got them because I have no idea. It definitely wasn’t due to my past play there)

    Day 1: 3/27/15
We (wife & I) were lucky to get out of Dallas just before the sleet/snow/ice came mid-day on Friday. Uneventful flight and cab ride to Wynn. Check-in at Wynn was semi-long at 2pm. Being 4pm Texas time we had to find a place to eat. I had never tried Tacos el Gordo just north of Wynncore so off we went. And I’ve still never tried Tacos el Gordo….. apparently that location closed. We settled for a shady place just around the corner for gyros. By this time the other couple (know them from college) coming in from Austin made it to Wynn. Met up with them and headed south on the strip. Bounced around a few places gambling here and there and had a meal at Noodles, Bellagio. Back to the Wynn after for a few hours of craps.

View from room on 21st floor.

    Day 2: 2/28/15
Girls have an appointment for a massage at Encore so me and the other husband head off to Wynn’s brunch buffet. I was expected mostly breakfast food but they had just about anything you’d want, very tasty. Afterwards we stroll around the property checking things outs.

View of 18th hole from The Country Club

We hopped over to Mirage for some BJ and then back over to Wynn for a few hours of craps. By this time it was time to camp out at the Wynn sportsbook to watch our Aggies win a basketball game. Back up to the room to get cleaned up and then right back down for our 7:30 reservation at SW. We were seated outside within 5min. Was a bit chilly, but with overhead heaters it was perfect. Lots of open seats at the outdoor tables when we were seated but it filled up pretty quick. We all enjoyed a GREAT meal with GREAT service (doesn’t quite match the last meal here when ordering the Kobe)and enjoyed the quirky entertainment every 30min.

A quick cab ride over to Bellagio for the 10pm O show. Previously the only Vegas shows I had seen was Le Reve and Love and O was disappointing. I think some of it had to do with the vast size of the theatre and us not having great seats. View from our 3rd deck seats.

Afterwards was back to the Wynn for more craps.

    Day 3: 3/1/15
Other couple had a morning flight back. Wife and I bounced around all over the strip and picked up our KA tickets (free from MyVegas). Stopped by TAG lounge at Linq for some VP since I’m a big craft beer fan. Had a few Sculpins and this Belgian. I wish we could have spent more time here. A good selection of ‘Free’ craft beer, yes please.

Headed back ‘home’ for a bit
    [IMG]

Off to Julian Serrano at Aira for happy hour tapas and sangria. Very tasty at a decent price
    [IMG]

From there we headed over to MGM for KA. We had some time to kill so we plopped down at a Sigma Derby seat and put in a $5. After the first race we were left with 17 quarters. I accidentally bet on the 1-4 horses at 8-1 odds. I tried to cancel my bet and then started pushing the 1-4 button over and over thinking once it got up to my 17 credits it would reset back to 0………well I was wrong. I was pushing the cashout/cancel buttons but nothing, 2 seconds later and we’re off to the races. Giddy up 1-4 down the stretch for a 1-4 win to pay 136! Obviously not a huge win but was fun hit.

Afterwards we headed off to KA and had good seats and thought the show was great. The moving stage blew me away and overall I thought it was better than O.

From here we jumped over to Cosmo to try the Verbena drink at Cosmo. Cool experience that’s worth doing if you haven’t. Jumped around to few other places before heading back to Wynn.

    Cool shot of low clouds.

    Day 4: 3/2/15
Early morning flight back to Dallas.

Overall—staying at the Wynn was great. Great rooms/service/dealers. By the third night at the craps table at Wynn some of the dealers knew our names. Was cool to get welcomed back to the tables by name. Only downside of the Wynn was location and it was a trek to get anywhere south, but this wasn't a dealbreaker.

Nice report! Nice pull with the Sigma Derby misbet! Also impressed with the spread sheet. I like numbers a bunch, but I lack discipline to be that detailed. And given your gambling record this trip...nice magic on getting those 3 nights comped at Wynn! lol

And I miss hanging out at TAG already! So many great beers for such a little gambling investment. :drunk:

Yah it was magic. Just got through enjoying your recent TR. Enjoyed all the beer pics.

There was club noise that I think was coming from Surrender. I’m a heavy sleeper and we were it bed late each night so it wasn’t too bothersome.

Thanks. It does take just a bit of time, but if you stay on top of things it gives you a really good perspective of your trip.

Thanks. Yah go right ahead and use it. I’d suggest to use Google Sheets and get the app on your phone so you can edit straight from there. I’d also suggest to make the sheet an ‘offline file’ so you’re able to access it at anytime even when coverage in casinos can be sketchy.

I salute you sir, you just added a whole new level of nerdiness to trip reports.

I took the liberty of running some of your numbers. I just looked at BJ, Craps, Roulette, and Sigma Derby and as you know you won on all of them over the trip. Your hourly earning rates for them is as follows:

    BJ: $17.16/hr
    Craps: $17.40/hr
    Roulette: $780/hr
    Sigma Derby: $100/hr

As your financial advisor I suggest you forget about everything else and just play roulette with maybe a little sigma derby thrown in if you need a change.

Its also worth breaking out your BJ earnings betweeen 6:5 games and 3:2 since you made notes of which one you played:

    6:5 BJ: ($28.74)/hr LOSS
    3:2 BJ: $35.95/hr gain

let that be a lesson.... :nono:

Also enjoyed your spreadsheet and I am now inspired to do likewise when I am in town at the end of the month. One thing I noted regarding your play is that you expected to play BJ 95% of the time but ended up playing more craps than BJ. Tracking my gambling will be interesting, I might add cocktails as well for additional analysis!

There's a couple different reasons why this was the case. At the limits I play Wynn doesn't have too many good blackjack games. Also, the other guy with me was much more of a craps player than blackjack. It also didn't hurt that we were doing decent at the craps table for most of the trip.

If you look on Sunday there was very minimal craps played and more blackjack, mainly to do with the other couple headed back home.

Nice report. What time was your flight out of Dallas, and was it Love or DFW? I left work shortly after 11 A.M. Friday and my 20 mile commute takes me through DFW, and it took over 2 hours that day due to the ice and snow.

Now your asking a bit much but I will try to figure it out. I also have to figure out formulas ad I want to input every roll of the dice during my hour sessions. Like 4,6,10 and 4 winner.and then input how much I won on that Hand/roll and so on.
Can I hire you? :) Thank you.

Nice trip report. Completely agree on 'O.' My whole group was extremely disappointed. I don't understand why so many speak highly of it.

Nice Trip Report! Between 2006 - 2008 we stayed at Luxor 5 times in a row. Then we wandered aimlessly up and down the strip for a few years until 2010 when we first stayed at Wynn.
It took us awhile before we started to receive offers but Wynn has become our home away from home. We enjoy the property very much! I think we've stayed there at least 7 times now.
    Thanks Again for sharing.

Wow, I thought I kept good records, but the spreadsheet is amazing. It would be too much work for me and anytime alcohol is involved, numbers become fuzzy. Nice job and nice report!

Flight left out of Love at 10:30. Snow started coming down at about 9:30 and I was just crossing my fingers the whole time hoping we'd get out.
