While I was walking to my car this morning parked on the South side of Level 2, near where they park the Avis rentals, there were three cars on the opposite side with their trunks open and two had their doors open, no one around. They were all close together but not next to each other and all three looked like rental cars. They looked like they had been cleaned out in a hurry. No broken glass. I understand there is a device that can defeat any car door remote, perhaps used here?

Usually there is Security on a bicycle running around the garage but considering what I carry is ITAR restricted I don't leave anything in my car, ever.

I can't confirm that anything was stolen, just an FYI, an observation from someone who observes.

Just so you know. One of the most secure places to park is an airport parking garage. Pay them whatever they ask. As an example MassPort at Logan Airport in Boston charges $44 a day. When you pay at a machine on the way out the machine will print the location of your card on the ticket! How does it know where you parked? They scan every car with a license plate scanner, match the location to your credit card number and print it on the ticket. Don't get your Civil Libertarian hackles up, it's a public garage and they can do what they want and you have the option of paying cash. If they scan your car one day and it's in a different place another they will send a response team to find out if it was tampered with. Car theft in the garage is virtually non existent now. This exists in many airport garages. Bradley Airport near Hartford boots cars owing tickets!:grrr:

Anyway, please be aware of your surroundings and don't leave anything, anywhere that could tempt anyone to take it.

Maybe the Avis crew was working on them?

I would think that it was Avis cleaning them as well. Most likely the Avis spots were full and the renters parked them as close as possible. I have done that before.

Secure lot or not, I just don't leave stuff in my car. Beyond that, I really don't travel with anything too valuable. My wife would have a few pieces of jewelry and her purse with some cash, I'd have my iPad or laptop and my wallet.. that's about it. Worst case if someone took everything they could possibly take from us, including the clothes off our backs, we'd be out maybe a few thousand? Just don't travel with your $10k watch and bring a bunch of stuff you don't really need.

Hopefully it was the Avis people using overflow space. Generally speaking though, I love this garage!

I would guess cleaning too. There's little reason for thieves to break into rental cars in a casino parking structure. Rental cars are going to be less likely to have personal property in them and the casino parking lot is more likely to have security, cameras, people walking by, etc.
