So after reading how the slot payout percentages are quite a bit better at the NLV casinos. So my question to you all is what or which ones are the better ones to drive up to while we are in town. Ive done the boukder highway thing and enjoyed it a few years back, so taking part of a day to head up that way would be interesting to us! Now I know sone of them such as Poker Palace and Opera House are definite places to steer clear of, ive read a number of crazy stories about them, but what about places like The Cannery, Texas Station, and Aliante? Any help is appreciated!
I've been to the Cannery and Texas Station before but didn't think all that much of them.. I go to Aliante each trip to Las Vegas even though it's pretty much out of the way (stay on the Strip but don't gamble much there). I go to Aliante early in the morning and after lunch head over to Boulder Station. Those are my two favorite casinos in Vegas. Aliante was built as nice as Green Valley Ranch or Red Rock back when Station Casinos opened it up.
I think Sante Fe is a nice casino and seems to comp slot players well. I would stay clear of those on Rancho Drive though. Old and just not very nice. If at Sante fe you should drive up the road to the Alliant. Nice neighborhood and quit a view looking down the valley esp at night.
A lot of the ones mentioned above are high end local casinos. If you are looking for a true North Las Vegas experience, I would suggest Jerry's Nugget. This one feels safer than something like the Opera House but has a true local vibe. Some pretty good food too if you happen to get hungry.
Good point mwig Jerry's nugget has a great prime rib special, and worth it just to stare at all the homemade desserts. The casino is safe but neighborhood not so much. Drive do not walk there.
We usually hit Jerry's Nugget for a little change of pace. My husband loves to eat breakfast there. We have a rental car and valet park only.
I always stay at the Plaza and can see Jerrys from my room if facing that way, always wondered about that place! Thanks for the replies all, ill give them a shot!
I've logged quite a few hours in the casinos of North Las Vegas (mostly Fiesta and Texas Station). The nicest far and away is Aliante. It is very similar to Red Rock out in Summerlin, but it feels like the payouts aren't as good, although I did turn my $5 in free play into $60 a couple weeks ago.
We were thinking of running out to RR as well, we always say we are going to go and it never happens. Might make a day of some off strip places this time!
Red Rock and Aliante are both very nice with Red Rock being one of my favorite. I go on coupon runs so I hit lots of these type places including the shady ones. I'm equal opportunity when it comes to chasing deals.
We like a lot of the North Las Vegas casinos. Jerry's is fun and clean and the folks that work there are really nice. If they put some kind of coupon out there in one of the coupon books, we'd probably eat there too! Actually, their prices are reasonable enough to indulge even without a coupon. I'm particularly fond of the Santa Fe Station casino. I usually have pretty good luck gaming there. And we really like their buffet, even better with ACG and MRB coupons. Another favorite is Suncoast. Especially on Young at Heart day - earn 50 points for a free breakfast or lunch buffet, 100 points for a free dinner buffet ($1 coin in = 1 point, even for VP! there may be some full pay exceptions, I'm not sure). We really like their breakfast and dinner buffets - probably our favorite of all the Boyd locals casinos. Cannery is nice too. Never eaten there though. They have pretty good promotions. And win cards - $15 for $10 once per month (this may have changed, it's been awhile since we have been there). We like it. They stopped doing matchplays so we stopped going there a few years ago. Texas Station is a favorite - although it seems awfully dark in the pit area to me. We like their buffet for breakfast. All mentioned above are nice, clean, etc. We like hanging out in the locals places! Cheers, Kelly
Tim, does Jerry's Nugget have UTH open during graveyard shift? Or don't open the table until 11AM or Noon (or even later). Boulder Station decided that I could play UTH there only playing the Trips and Bonus bets, but I wouldn't mind playing all of the bets at a $2 table...
+1! The restaurant is surprisingly good, and after the prime rib you don't even want to think of dessert, even though they look very tempting when you walk in! I like the casino too. Very downscale, but they have a real good selection of the lower limit machines that I like. Agree about the neighborhood. I've never felt unsafe there in the casino, and they have a very visible guard in the valet park area. You do pass through some very dicey areas when you drive there.
I can't believe I didn't mention this one. Rampart is great. They have one of the easiest high end comps in the entire city. They have good VP options and 1,200 same day points will get you a free mixed grill at the Carmel room. That is steak and lobster with some nice sides and the room is gourmet and very nice. The points are $2 per point so $2,400 run through will do it. They have 10 play machines as low as nickels that smooth the variance out. TDB is the best return but even bonus poker will get you that meal for an expected loss of $8.92 after factoring in the cash back. Variance is always an issue so obviously you should plan on hitting a royal to make it more fun A multi point day can flip the expectation positive but you still have to earn 1200 base points.
