so, just got back from a trip to harrahs, 5 nights, all comped, 3 nights over valentine's weekend paying the rate at ti, and then 4 night back at harrahs with a total of about 85 dollars for the four nights. both of these stays were booked before november, so no resort fees with my platinum status. today, i made reservations for august. one stay at 10 bucks a night, but then 25 in resort fees. the other stay a couple weeks later. 7 nights comped for the 5 weeknights and 56 a day for friday and saturday...so 112 dollars, but with 175 in resort fees. will maintain my platinum status, for sure because of putting over 5000 dollars on my tr credit card, easily done by august. my earned points for the time i was in las vegas during february was 2525 points. with the bonus will be at 3750, unless i get some more points unexpectedly. without a doubt, will add enough points during the august stay to be over the 5000 points for platinum status based on play. so, they will still be cheap stays, but have gotten used to no resort fees. i do not use the wi-fi, the pool, the exercise room, or anything else that the "resort" fee is supposed to cover. has anyone had any luck getting these resort fees backed off by a host? my play is what it is, a little table games, horse betting, probably 35 percent of my points from video poker, and 60 percent from slots. based on that, my coin in would have been 7500 on slots and 8800 on video poker, about 7 separate 200 dollar buyins at crazy four poker, with from one to four black chips plus change back out. any suggestions, or am i sol as far as not having to pay these resort fee without pushing harder than i am willing to to get to diamond?
From your play, a host may be able to take off the resort fees. It doesn't take much to get the resort fees removed by a host. Even if someone here said no, it doesn't hurt to check with the duty host your last night there or the day of departure to see if you can get anything taken off on the back-end.
finding the on duty host? in all my trips and times at harrahs and elsewhere in the caesar's properties, i have never been approached by a host. how do you find one, say on the last night? are they stationed at the total rewards desk, i know the diamond checkin area closes at 9 pm. just where would one ask to be put in contact with the "host on duty"? thanks, easy money for the response. anyone else have any experience with what level of play might get the resort fees knocked back off?
If you're talking about getting approached by a host, that's a different story. A host will approach you if you meet a certain THEO, bet average, play period, etc. In all the casinos, there's usually a host office or some other location where there's a duty host. I'm not familiar with Harrahs, so I'm not sure where it would be. You should be able to ask the pitboss where the host office is or where the host on duty is, if it's late at night. But to be safe, you can go the afternoon before you check out, or if you have a later flight after lunch or what now, go in the morning and speak with the host. When you speak to them, can say something along the lines of "I'm just checking to see if my play here warrants any back-end COMPS or if you can take care of the resort fees." Best of luck!!
When staying at an mlife property I've gone to the players club desk and they phoned someone that'd knock off charges. If I'm at harrahs should I go to total rewards or to the host directly? CET is not my primary focus when gambling but I'm crashing there for a couple of nights and will prolly play enough for at least the fee.
thanks for the replies. on the last trip, i noticed that points earned, at say, the quad or ph, were not showing up on the greeting when i played later that night at harrahs, so i know the obvious answer is to do my last day of playing specifically at harrahs, before asking for any considerations. so, ask at the players club desk before they close for the night, or is there a hosts office somewhere i can find later, or does someone have a contact or any other info that would help me. i may be going back long before august, though no reservation made yet, so would love to know...am obsessing a lot over this 25 a night, illogical considering how fast i can lose that in a machine or on a table!
The TR desk or a host will be able to see all your play across all CET properties, so playing your last day entirely at Harrah's is not necessary. You can call Harrah's hotel operator and ask to speak with the host on duty to review your play. Also,I agree with jgates8. My host has always taken available reward credits before comping me on the back end.
My experience as well that they will use your TR points first. After that they will look at your play. I would go up to the total rewards desk the morning you check out and see if you can get any charges taken off your room. Worst case they say no. Initial guess is they will take off some, just not all.
My understanding from what I've read is that if you are gold or platinum you have to pay for resort fess at CET properties. This I understand. Think it's BS if you have to pay a resort fee on a comped room, but anyways. Last year I was diamond for CET and this year I will drop back to platinum at the end of march. If I reserve a room at Caesars before the end of March as diamond status, do you think I will get my resort fees waived?
i think it is your status at the time of your stay. If you are Platinum during your stay, you will be charged a resort fee. Having said that, getting a resort fee comped off the back end shouldn't be difficult.
I reached out to the CET host on the board but he has not responded to my twitter DM's as of now. He could do the exact same things I could via the TR website as far as a reservation and my free play that's available. If don't hear from him by Monday or Tuesday I think I will reserve it through the TR website and go from there. I'm hoping the resort fees just kind of disappear when I arrive in June.
