Oak & Ivy: Is it worth the stop?

If I found myself in the Down Town area would it be worth the time to head over to Container Park for a cocktail at Oak and Ivy? If not where are the best cocktails down town?

 

I suggest not missing The Griffin or The Downtown Cocktail Room. I have yet to try out Oak & Ivy and will be interested in hearing about it.

 

The Downtown Cocktail room looks interesting. Their cocktail menu is on-line and compared to the strip the prices are amazing, especially happy hour. This seems like a great place to grab a drink after visiting the Mob Museum.

 

This is a great place to sit and relax, they have good background music which is not too loud, and the bartenders make great drinks / cocktails. It's non-descript on the outside, but very comfortable and nice on the inside. The owner is one of the first people to take a chance investing in downtown beyond the FSE, and they have done well over the years.

While I miss the character of the old Atomic Lounge, the new version has reasons to pop in. The bartenders are really great, they have a nice selection of various craft beers, and they make great drinks as well. You can relax outside or inside, and they have really cool art from various local artists. Those are my two favorite non casino bars downtown.

 

I just took a look at their cocktail menu. I'm guessing the numbers in the upper right hand corner are the prices even though they don't lead with a $ symbol. So I see a drink called the Humpty Hump. Contains Bourbon, Holiday Spice and apples. Numbers show 64/114. Is that $64.00 and $114.00? For a single drink?

 

I think we had a drink there. The whole container park is worth going to see.

But I laughed about the name just now reading the thread title. How did they come up with that name? Why don't they cover all the bases and call it Oak, Ivy, & Sumac?
