I have no doubt the place is a dump...but other than that, what are some specifics of the place? I heard $5 double deck blackjack? I'm sure a craps table or two? Barton VP? Surely someone has set foot in there and had a good time at a place like this

It's smokey and well worn... I was there a few years ago... lots of street girls and their low level pimps are known to hang around as that area of Tropicana and Dean Martin Drive is their "turf." The staff seemed nice enough. I had a late night meal at Denny's with a friend who stayed at the hotel (Days Inn) there. His company doesn't have as nice a per-diem package as mine.

Hey Earl, You are a newbie but having been to Vegas 6 times , do you have to ask about Wild West? Yes it is a dump. I have about 40 + trips to Vegas and stayed there twice on my way to the airport after staying at my mom's or to save a Friday night ridiculous strip rate.. I never had a bad time there. The casino is minimal . The last time I was there, 1 crap table. If I remember correctly, it was a small table like Ellis Island but my memory was clouded. All I can tell you is you get what you what you pay for. A dump. If I remember, the TV didn't even have a remote and the key wasn't a card reader. It was a key (motel) type. By the way it was about 10 years ago, not 30. Depending on the circumstance, I would stay again on my last leg of the trip only to get to the airport. BUT ,I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that couldn't handle crap. Back to the gambling, depending on the day &time, you never knew what's open. It may have changed since the last time I was there but it's a gamble in it's self. One day may work, but if you need more days, good luck. Enjoy your stay.

I guess I was referring to just the casino atmosphere and vibe. I tend to really enjoy hole in the wall places, but seeing the post about the clientele that hangs around I might think twice about visiting. I love Ellis island and adored Bill's back in the day, but apparently no comparison period.

I stop in there just about every trip, usually when I'm going to InNOut Burger. I also pick up a copy of Gaming today, if they have any left, while I'm there.

It's a dive, but it's a comfortable dive nothing to be scared of. Drink service has always been great, but then again it's a small place so I guess it should be
I've gone there on some Sundays to watch football for the beer and pizza special.
They have the mini-craps table there.

I enjoy dive places too and though some of the clientele is on the lower end of the spectrum, I didn't feel unsafe at all.

Quick thought. I've never been there before but Hookers and pimps are in every casino in Vegas. EVERYONE. Wild West hookers and pimps might not be as classy as the 1's in Bellagio but they are there. I've wanted to check out the WILD WEST, POKER PALACE and CLUB FORTUNE. I too enjoy playing at Ellis island but I've never stayed there. I live in the great state of NY and trust me...you haven't seen a "dump" that is full of unsavory people until you've been to NY! Something tells me that IxAccDnf has a good handle on the Wild West! Ill be there in 3 weeks.

stayed and played there many years ago when it was called the king-8----1st casino in veagas where I got comped rooms-----back then and now it still carters to over-the road truckers because of its proximity to the interstate, ample parking for their rigs, coupled with the low prices for rooms and food-------it is truly vegas on the cheap and relatively close to the strip-----

Alright, well now I have been talked into making a stop into the place. Any kind of drink specials when not gambling?

Here is an excerpt from my March stay at the Wild West

…………continuing with the bargain-basement approach to lodging, my three nights in Vegas were at the Wild West Days Inn ($26/nite including resort fees).
I was pleasantly surprised with: 1.) one of the more comfortable beds I’ve slept on in Vegas, 2.) the overall room remodel (in a relative sense), 3.) expedient front desk help with check in, boarding pass printing, etc, 4.) free breakfast in adjoining Dennys, 5.) outdoor hot tub, 6.) solitude of being away from the action, 7.) larger cable selection than most Vegas hotels, 8.) $3 BJ, 9.) adequate second-story view of the Strip, 10.) IN N Out across the street.
And, it still has some of the old charm left, with hookers on prowl in the adjoining truck lots.
    Biggest drawback is location.
Strangest thing that happened was being in the hot tub one afternoon in a nearly deserted pool area, with a horny hair stylist who was looking for some “physical” fun on her last day there and two other women who just got into town for a “Passion Party” convention.
It was a quite a conversation between the four of us. And, at the Wild West Days Inn of all places.

……………..Instead of staying at your typical Vegas casino hotel, it was more like staying at roadside motel, which I kinda dug.

Well have to agree with most of the postings....and I as well would stop if going to the IN N OUT right across the street. Never noticed the "working girls" etc.. as my jaunts were late morning or in the afternoons.

Wait, Chef, I am confused. Were you referencing the horny hairstylist when you mentioned In-N-Out?

Yes if you are a trucker staying at the Wild West then you will likely hear several knocks on your rigs door for companionship.

Close to In and Out and Orleans, I plan to check it out on my Orleans stay in June just to check it off my LV list.

Never thought of that correlation, but it does makes sense when you think about it. Good one.

    tvon,
Since Denny's took overthe restaurant, the days of .99 cent specials are gone.
