I currently have a LOC/marker limit open at Aria, and recently called the Mlife credit department to see if it could be extended over to the Mirage as well because I have a trip coming up there. Anyway, they said no problem they would "transfer" it over to the Mirage. This confused me as I wanted to still have my marker at Aria as I will definitely be staying there in the future. So I asked if there was anything I needed to do the next time I stay at Aria so that my marker can be used there. I got a confusing answer about calling 2 weeks in advance to my next stay at Aria to transfer the marker back, so I wanted to ask you all and maybe you can help clarify from your experience:

For those of you with markers at Mlife, is there anything you need to do to maintain them? e.g. Do you need to reopen or reapply for the marker every time you visit if it's the same casino? If you have a marker at one casino and then open it at another Mlife casino do you have to then "transfer" it back to your usual casino next time you stay there?

I know the Mlife casinos have their own accounting and management so you have to get them to honor the marker limit at each place you want to use it. But I thought once you opened a marker at one casino and then ask for another casino to honor the marker you could use it continuously at both casinos? Assuming you keep your account in good standing, of course.

The marker limit is cumulative among all the mlife properties. Unless the account you used has enough ceiling for both markers you'll either have to reduce them or just use the one.

When I think I might be staying at an MGM property for the first time, I just go online and fill out an app for that casino. Same thing with CET (a paper form that has to be faxed). Why bother with unnecessary handoffs and procedures? Look what happens.

When you're at Mirage, verify you have a marker account there. Then at some point during your stay, walk over to Aria and get it straightened out with them and don't leave Aria until you're sure you have a separate marker account at both places.

I don't think that's true. I have different limits at different MGM properties.

I have separate CL's at MGM, MB, Aria, and Mirage. They are small CL's, but they are definitely independent of each other.

At least in my case, I had applied for a number of different markers for properties I felt I might visit in the future. I later decided to add a new one for a property I visited on a recent trip and had to freeze one of my existing ones in order to get it. This was due to not having enough funds in the account I used for the application to cover all of the markers. They said I could have given them more account info to have more markers if I wanted to.

LOC need to be separate for accounting purposes. I didn't even think they would do what the OP asked in that they transferred a LOC from one property to another.

Mirage can't be responsible for a marker you take out at Bellagio, therefore they need to be separate.

I'd do what Chuck suggested. Make sure you have your LOC at Mirage and then do the same at Aria. You could also just call credit services again and open up a LOC at Aria as well. Don't transfer or share, you need to create a new one.

I never heard of the transferring marker things. After I opened up my first they were able to transfer the information over to sister casinos to open separate LOCs there but not moving one LOC around.

powersof10 is right that it is cumulative though across properties. That doesn't mean you can't have different limits at different properties, it just means if you try to open up a bunch backed by the same account they consider the total amount you have at all properties.

Backed by the same bank account, you mean.

I should have been more clear. As I understand, all the markers are separate but their cumulative total cannot exceed the account backing them.

Perhaps the casinos know I am more of a degenerate than I think I am. I'm sure they are just looking out for my best interest. :wink2:

    a lot of misinformation here.

lines at different properties are indeed separate, but there's no cumulative limit.

I've had lines at Aria, B and MGM all the same amount at the same time and combined way more than they would have given me at one property.

each property act completely independently and as long as you have good payment history, they will open you another line for the same amount at any other property.

and, yes, you can blow through lines at multiple properties on the same trip. they don't shut down the other lines just because you max out one property.

Maybe it wasn't a cumulative limit but when I opened my first line it was at Aria, then MGM took that info and opened for the same amount. Then I was at Bellagio and asked to open a line there and he saw that I just opened up two at Aria and MGM and told me because those were just opened he can give me half that amount but if I used it up he'd give me the rest. So maybe it was lack of any payment history or just opening all of them up at the same time, but the other LOCs did weigh in on it.

    This is correct

In my experience mlife "copied over" the info from Bellagio when Aria opened and they gave me the same line with no additional bank check or application. It took about 10 minutes. Both lines are based on the same account and can be completely drawn down on the same trip.

My sense is if they are comfortable with your play/pay history it is super easy to just get a new line at another mlife hotel, they are not looking at a "cumulative limit" at all to open a new line. I suspect they would look at what you have outstanding at other props if you are looking for a TTO or looking to open a new line midtrip when you already had markers outstanding

I was just reporting my recent experience. I have a few small credit lines at various mlife casinos. I'm guessing experiences may be different with larger credit lines and/or more history with the casinos.

The process of opening the lines seems to be a very manual and possibly subjective process, so I doubt they'd quickly be able to shut down another line if they were all maxed out (even if they wanted to, which I doubt they would). I think most of the scrutiny only happens when applying for new lines.

absolutely. they won't give you a TTO or open a new line mid-trip if you already maxed out your lines/TTOs at other properties.

It is my understanding that among casinos in the mLife group, each CL is separate and unique.

They frown on taking money from one CL and playing at another mLife casino.

I had a credit line at Mirage and was asked to open a new one at MGM when I took a comp over there.

I just started with CET and don't have any information to draw on with them. All I know about them is that their credit is "central", all through Caesar's Palace LV.

At mLife it is through each casino.

The notion that the entire process is very manual and subjective for casino credit also seems true--they can streamline the process if they like/want your play and feel good about your ability to pay. Again in my experience, if you always pay it is very easy to get additional credit around LV. It is also easy to forget that CLs aren't really credit at all--markers are checks, and you need to be able to pay up pretty damn quick. Remind yourself of that as you apply for "credit lines" all over town! I do and have limited how many lines I have for that reason.

Absolutely they do not want you to take a marker and "walk" with the money to another hotel--if you show a loss at the prop where you took out a marker it is tolerated, but if you win or don't play supposedly you risk having your line closed/restricted.
