This question is probably the key to the meaning of existence. It has perplexed me and countless others as to why this is so. Be forewarned: this question might be uncomfortable but for those who try, Bless you.:poke:

Why is it that when you order eggs for breakfast they give you two but when you order omelets they use 3?

Eggs come with bacon and toast.

The omelet is the whole meal.

Most places they dont use fresh eggs for omelets anymore they use those liquid eggs ,big time saver. Now heres a real item to contemplate upon a midnight dreary. How many eggs are in a scoop of that stuff and are the omelet chefs aware of this? I always thought it was wierd to serve an omelet with chicken in is it,the same chicken or maybe two generations of chickens?

Speaking of eggs and philosophy...if Denny's is always open, why do they have locks on the doors?

    A philosophical question:

If a paper bag is a poke, and a donkey is an ass, why is a poke in the ass a goose?

Three eggs? I wish I could still find places that still do three egg omlettes. I keep finding places that now do four and even five egg omlettes. I love 'em but I don't order them when they are that big, especially when they are still coming with toast or pancakes and a side of potatoes. I actually wish places offered smaller omlettes. As for eggs. seems to me that many places offer both two and three eggs platters. One is probably labeled a value or a light plate and the other is usually labeled as hearty.

A 2 egg omelet doesn't have the strength to hold the inside ingredients. When using just 2 eggs, you'd have to use a very small omelet pan to make the base of the eggs thick enough to be able to fold over without ripping. People don't like tiny omelets so 3 eggs seems to be the magic number.

3 scrambled eggs with a splash of water mixed in is just the right amount to cover a regular sized omelet pan without being too thin.

I don't remember the exact measurements but the omelet chef is very aware. Restaurants scramble maybe 4 flats of eggs (120 eggs) with a couple cups of water and each scoop equals the equivalent of 2 eggs. If you use the wrong ladle for measuring, you can cost the restaurant a lot of money.

Not universal. At the Crystal Springs Dairy Bar in Ware, MA - the "Known Nationally as the Town that Can't be Licked" (really, I'm not making this up, I was born there!) they serve THREE eggs side by each and a pair of toasts As their Special. Along with a coffee and either ham, bacon or sausage it's $5.45 including tax. Guy Fieri would commit suicide here.

So the very basis of your philosophical question is in question. As is my sanity for eating in said establishment which looks exactly like it did in 1960, having never been renovated, the counters are worn thin, the stools squeak and there's the ROMEO crowd (retired old men eating out). Super caffeinated coffee, though.

    Never ordered their omelets...

The egg scoop is exactly one egg, so they use three scoops. I walked at an Elmers Pancake and Steah house for 15 years, made more omelets than I can count!!

LMAO Piggy... also a Warehole.... been eating there since i was about 10....
there's something to be said for keeping a place the same, though when Shummy owned it, it wasn't always that clean, then Joe bought it and it was a bit better, but with Junior bussing, it was still a bit off.. the new owners had the place professionally cleaned and even Darcy said she didn't know some of the pipes in the kitchen were actually copper....

i still notice the romeos standing pout front discussing the daily events.....
and they recently stay open till 9 on fridays... fish fry...

ps... remember The White House on Parker Street? Now, that was an icon... 2 cast iron pans cooked what ever you ordered...
and the Alligator Diner and their fabulous greasy french fries... those were the days my friend

Simple. Have you ever tried making an omelet with just 2 eggs? Of course not, it is impossible.

I use two eggs but I thin them out with a little milk. I add broken up bacon, some frozen potatoes murphy(fried in bacon grease) and some shredded taco cheese.

I remember reading about this. A Denny's decided to close for Christmas one year but couldn't find the key. Since the door had never been locked in like 10 years, the key had gone missing and no one knew where it was. They had to get a locksmith out replace the lock.

I order my two eggs omelet style. Always throws them off.

PS Is that a silent "e" in omelet?

Lol!! Another one of life's mysteries....definitely one to ponder when unlocking the meaning of existence!

Why is a poke in the ass a goose? I don't know. But I must say a poke in the ass is always good....:poke::evillaugh

I think an "omlet" tastes better than an omelet.
