    Hello,

I was hoping you would share your thoughts about two hotels we are considering. We are a mid 40's couple taking kids 21-25 to Las Vegas for the first time in early March. We are planning on two rooms at either the Venetian or the Cosmopolitan. The Cosmopolitan rooms with the fountain view look fantastic but I am worried about the housekeeping and run down furniture issues I have read about online. If you have stayed at one or both, would you mind sharing how the two properties compare in amenities and room condition and what you think might be the best option for first time visitors?

Thank you for your help and opinions!

The kids will probably enjoy the Cosmopolitan more. I just stayed at the Cosmo a few weeks ago. No problem with housekeeping. I did notice a few scuffs here and there on the wallpaper and on the work area desk but still a really nice room. With the new owners coming in I'd expect to see a room refresh as the furnishings are opening day. The balcony is pretty darn cool as well.

You could not describe two completely opposite properties to stay at. Venetian is a more upscale luxury resort, which I feel caters to a more mature crowd. While Cosmo is a hip newer party vide atmosphere. Not to mention the size
of each property and the amenities. If the room view is most important to you then stay at Cosmo. Given the choice, my wife and I would rather spend time at the Venetian.

You mentioned your adult children are traveling with you. What kind of experience are they looking for? Does it matter? If I was in my twenties I would want to stay mid strip.

On room condition the Cosmo suffers from the normal abuse that you would expect from the club goers coming to Vegas to party. Myself and friends who have stayed have not noticed any decline in upkeep
    however in the past year.

    Thank you for the replies.

I think you have confirmed exactly what I have been reading that the Venetian is more of an upscale luxury resort with great dining and shopping options but the Cosmopolitan wins hands down on the view and location. Personally, I think that my husband and I would enjoy the Venetian more and the kids would enjoy the Cosmo more. I'm torn because I want all of us to have a good time and if I choose the Venetian I don't want them to be disappointed. They both say that anything is fine with them so the choice is up to us.

As far as the experience they are looking for I would say just to take it all in and party (like most kids that age).

I should add that the cost of the Cosmo is about $200 more.

I think that either one would be a good choice, but will come down to priorities for the group~

I think Cosmo is fantastic and one of my favourite hotels, never had a problem with housekeeping or room condition. I wouldn't get too hung up on the room as I'm sure the kids first trip to Vegas being legal age - they won't be in the room much. I have had fountain view on the upper floors - and wasn't in the room in the evenings to watch the fountains, lol! I do however find it hard to spend the majority of my time for three days there. Restaurants and casino are very good, but small in variety compared to Venetian/Palazzo. Not much in the way of show options, but there may be decent ones nearby. The closest shopping would be the miracle mile shops at PH. If the kids want to do a lot of clubs, or plan to spend their nights at Marquee, then it may be best/safest to stay there.

You may want to consider the Palazzo side of Venetian, my understanding is the rooms are nicer/newer there vs. Venetian (I've only stayed Venetian once but am booked in a Fortuna suite at Palazzo early March myself). You will have many more dining options, way larger casino, and aside from the higher end shops located there, Fashion show mall is across the street, as well as close to the Forum shops at Caesar's. The mid-strip location gives easy access to a lot of the other resorts/shows/clubs and may be good if everyone is interested in doing their own things.

Good luck, you will have to let us know what you decided!

Rooms are nicer at Cosmo and the furniture is a lot more run down at the Venetian. Also for a first timer Cosmo has the ideal location even though Venetian is pretty good as well. Never had any housekeeping issues at either property.

I have stayed at the Cosmopolitan and the Venetian; also the Palazzo (which is the Venetian's sister property) as well as a couple dozen other places in Las Vegas. I prefer the Cosmopolitan because of it's location, views, and, of course, the balcony. I have found there's a lot more to do in/near the Cosmopolitan (due to it's location). But, if I weren't going to stay at the Cosmopolitan, I would choose the Palazzo over the Venetian. Their rooms, prices, etc are pretty much the same and I find it much easier to navigate the Palazzo than the Venetian. Depending on the room you get, it's very easy to get lost trying to navigate the Venetian.

Venetian is better in my opinion, but as for nightclubs you have Tao(not as hot as it once was), but across the street(a vegas block is one mile basically) is Wynn/Encore and there you have XS(second hottest club) and Tryst and the Encore Beach Club.

The young drunks love to go to Cosmopolitan to MARQUEE. Best party club in Vegas at this time.

Your view from Cosmopolitan is better than anything you will get at the Venetian/Palazzo.

Walking around Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo will be cooler than Cosmopolitan and Bellagio. But once you add in the proximity to Paris, Caesars, Harrahs, Mandalay Bay, MGM, etc there will be more to see and do at Cosmopolitan location. At the Venetian you have Wynn, Mirage, and TI.

As for restaurants, there are tons of very good restaurants every where, you won't have a difficult time finding one at either location.

If you are paying the bills, I say go for Venetian/Palazzo. But that view from Cosmopolitan is pretty spectacular. Do you plan on spending every night in your room to see the fountains? Probably not.

if you are worried about the kids more than you, then the Cosmopolitan will be more their speed, and there is a lot more within a short walk from the Cosmo than Venetian. But they are young, and have plenty of energy to walk a lot from the Venetian.

Pools: there won't be any pool parties going on so being at the pool is a wash. Although I think the Encore Beach Club is hotter than the Marquee Beach Club during May to early September.

Will you be doing a lot of cabs? In my opinion, I absolutely, positively despise the cab experience at Cosmopolitan. Getting in and especially getting a cab and leaving. The next time I am not wasting time at the Cosmo cab line. I will walk to the Bellagio or MGM Vdara instead.,

I'm not trying to be crass here....but your 21-25 (single) children will thank you for staying at the Cosmo if they are at all interested in the opposite sex. In that regard, comparing Venetian to Cosmo is like comparing a nursing home to a college campus. Also in the Cosmo's favor are the beautiful views, the residential feel of the rooms, and the very cool vibe. I also believe they have stepped up their game service-wise since they opened.

If you like to stay at Venetian, you should book at the V. And for your kids you can book Cosmo under your name, so you just have experienced at both places.

I had stayed at both places but I prefer the room at Pallzzo because it's more quiet and it's less tear and wear than Venetian.

When I want to play and drink I will walk on to the Venetian side just bc the vibe over there.

The room at Cosmo is more modern look and newer and a tad smaller compare to the V.

Ass, tits, hot girls, party scene, glamorous feel. Go with the Cosmo.

More elegant, cheaper version of the bellagio, more mature, great service. Go with the Venetian.

This reminds me of my friend who used to joke that the Venetian is a hotel for people who don't know what real luxury is. The first time he told me this was when I just booked a 2 week non refundable stay at the V and got me a little rattled. It's not that bad but it has some truth to it.

I like this option. Parents at the V, kids at the Cosmo. See both properties, everyone wins.

Cosmo for the "youngsters" for sure. Also very near Planet Hollywood which has a young scene. Also the bus stop for the Downtown Express is at Paris, for transportation for the downtown bar crawl

Additionally, Cosmo, IMHO, is the best center strip location for Vegas newbies.
