Best Steakhouses

I am a fan of Old Homestead in Caesars. The bone on filet is the best!. I prefer Old Homestead to Strip House or BLT Steak.

 

I am not a huge steak house fan, but have had two very good experiences at Gordon Ramsay Steak. Just curious what make the others better? Or what about Gordon Ramsay's makes it not a favorite?

 

My one experience at Ramsay Steak was terrible service. I wished Gordon would come out and go Hell's Kitchen on our server. Refuse to go back now because in my 5 meals at SW I've never even had a mere moment of bad service. Too many great steak houses in Vegas to go to one that's offered bad service even once. I advocate SW to everyone as it is what you would expect at Wynn, world class service to go with world class food.

 

Yeah if you are going to limit yourself to CET because of your credits I'd say Old Homestead is the way to go. Strip House is good, not great, more of an experience kind of place than a good, class dining place.

If you venture away from CET there are much better options as CET is lacking in the great steakhouse category with really only Old Homestead and Ramsay Steak able to complete with Mlife, Wynn and V/P offerings.

 

Just got back home from our eighteenth trip to Vegas and for the first time we walked into Circus Circus to explore. Pretty sure this will be the last time, but while we were there we stopped into the steakhouse. The restaurant wasn't open for business, but the door was unlocked so we stepped inside to look at the interior...the smell hit us like a sledge hammer. I suppose it was from the hanging meat in the aging room, but I'm not sure we could sit through a meal with this smell so prevalent. I may be jumping the gun and this smell might not be present during dinner service.

We did have dinners at ENVY and Smith and Wollensky and wouldn't recommend either one.

So far the best we've had are SW and Prime.

 

I love Strip House.

Also have eaten at GR 3 times and had great service each time - but I understand how a bad experience can ruin the meal for you.

 

I haven't eaten at the steakhouses that are currently on your list, thus cannot recommend either. I have eaten at Envy Steakhouse, just off the strip behind the Wynn on Paradise and had an excellent meal. I haven't looked at their menu lately but I'm guessing it would be a slightly cheaper option. At least worth consideration!

From the reviews that I have read on the steakhouses down in the Wynn area, there aren't too many bad options. Enjoy

 

I agree with just picking one in Wynncore or V/P. Honestly you can't go wrong with any of them.

 

A few comments here ...

I second the recommendation of Golden Steer. Very old school. Great ambiance.

Bob Taylor's Ranch House is excellent, but it's waaaaayyyy out in the toolies!

Circus-Circus Steakhouse is surprisingly good and does NOT have the same ambiance as the rest of the casino. It's a classy and a place for grown-ups. Haven't been there for 10 years but I do remember it as being very good.

Lawry's is very good, but I don't consider prime rib to be steak, I consider it to be a roast. (Yeah, I know it's the same thing as a rib eye.) If you want excellent prime rib, however, Jerry's Nugget is excellent. It's very downscale and in a very earthy part of town, but it's worth the trip and the property itself is very safe and well-patroled. If you drive there from downtown you will pass through a very scary area, however.

Billy Bob's at Sams Town is also great for steak, and quite reasonable in price. Again, it's out in the toolies.

 

Thanks for the input. I just made reservations for Old Homestead through OpenTable. I can feel my BP going up already!

 

We are heading to the Golden Steer in four days. Reviews are mixed, seems to be a love it-don't love it kind of thing, but I'm optomistic.

Since you are more adventurous than the average Vegas visitor in terms of branching out beyond the Strip / Downtown, you may want to consider checking out Austin's @ Texas Station if you haven't in the past. Great steak, great experience at a great value.

 

Ya know, for some reason we just seem to avoid (as in drive by) the Rancho Strip places. I've been to all three once, and that's about it. No particular reason. It might be worth re-visiting them.

 

My top 3 in no order. Gr steak, CUT and Vic and Anthony's at the golden nugget
