Always a Tuesday night, always during the cooler time of the year. Any excuse in Vegas for a party is a good excuse. I've never considered spending MG in Vegas. How big is the party across the city on MG? Is the atmosphere inside the Orleans any different than any other weeknight?

People have asked in the past why nothing happens for Mardi Gras at Harrah's, The Rio or Downtown at Mermaids or Le Bayou... but thats pretty much it: nothing happens in Las Vegas to celebrate or even mark Mardi Gras.

Yeah, other than a few small parties and drink specials, Las Vegas (oddly) does not do much with Mardi Gras.

They could really poach New Orleans if they committed to it. They could do a float parade up and down the Strip. It would get bigger every year like New Years Eve.

Many locals go to places like Las Vegas or ski resorts to get away from everything that is Mardi Gras. Good money to be made renting your house out of you live near a parade route. Yesterday and today are holidays in louisiana anyway. I miss the 4 day weekend when I lived in south LA.

Plus Mardi Gras is a lot more than just Tuesday. The last two weeks have been nonstop parades with this past Saturday and Sunday being all day filled with parades and then night caps at various restaurants , bars and house parties.

I speculate that in Las Vegas, Chinese New Year (also a weeks-long celebration) takes precedence over Mardi Gras.

LAX nightclub at The Luxor has a pretty big Mardi Gras FAIL in my opinion, they're have a party/masquerade ball tomorrow night. I guess they didn't get the memo that "Mardi Gras" is over on Fat Tuesay...not starting. Amateurs.
