Never read the books before but found this series on Amazon. Main character is a cop from LA and his ex-wife is a retired FBI profiler turned professional poker player in Las Vegas at the Aria Hotel - In the 6th or 7th episode (forgot) he takes a trip to Vegas to see the ex - Had some nice scenes in the Aria and in front of Circus Circus - Hopefully they will use Vegas more during the series. I've gotten hooked on the show -- I like crime dramas and it is nice to see real Vegas scenes instead of Hollywood or LA posing as Vegas.

Just finished reading one of the Bosch books, Angels Flight. I think there are about 10 or so books in the series.

Fast paced, good page turner books.

Yeah, the books are great. The author is Michael Connelly, a former crime reporter for the LA Times. It definitely helps to read the books in order. Like Breeze said they'll keep your attention at a high level. One of the things I really like about his books is that after you read one of his books you realize that he left several well disguised clues along the way. I think his best book was "The Poet", not part of the Bosch series or the Lincoln Lawyer series, but an absolutely incredible mystery/thriller. Looking forward to watching the series on Amazon. The guy who plays Harry Bosch is the same actor who played The Man in Black on "Lost".

I love the books, I might have to do a trial month at amazon to watch the series. thanks for the heads up. For reference the author is also responsible for the Lincoln Lawyer stories (McConaughy movie) and Blood Work (Eastwood movie).

Just binged the season with the wife this past weekend- she rolled her eyes when they started showing the background scenes of Vegas. Really enjoyed the show, although some of the dialogue can be a little cheesy. Titus Welliver did a very good job with the character I thought.

Looks like season one is a combination of Book 8 - City of Bones and probably another because he was working two cases. Nice to see Scott Wilson alive again (Walking Dead) - Always liked his subtle easy going style. Guess I will have to order the series on my kindle. It's funny because on his wall in the TV show he has a poster for the Black Echo (Bosch's book that was made into a movie) and the character makes remarks about how bad it was and how he was glad he didn't write it under his name.

His LA house is soooo nice - high on the hill over looking LA. Seen it in other movies etc. - Bosch said he paid for the house with his money he made from the Black Echo.

Hopefully they will come back with another season.

Just checked out a few minutes of the first episode...all I had time for. I noticed a couple actors from one of my favorite TV series, The Wire...that's all I need to assure me this will be a good series. Looking forward to watching more later.
