I'm tired of Hotels on the Strip, maybe La Quinta Airport South????

Ok, so I'm coming to Vegas for work and I'm tired of the 'ding, ding ding' of the casinos, lol.

I am looking at La Quinta Suites Airport south because of the location and the free shuttle to Mandalay Bay (for work) and the airport, and the nice beds, free breakfast, refrigerator in room, and no resort fee.

Anyone have any thoughts? I realize it's not in the happening district, but I'm an old fart (I'm 43), lol. Not really into the gambling anymore.

La Quinta? Whatever floats your boat... but why not consider the Trump, Platinum, Vadara or some of the other nice, non-gaming properties Vegas has to offer? Several times a year I host a group of about 20 or so and many of them are opposed to sleeping where there's gaming. We've successfully used the above named properties. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn (south of the airport) once... I felt like I was in Omaha!

La Quintas are usually pretty decent accommodation for a few nights.

 

The Westin. It is relatively quiet there. Small laid back casino. A lot of airlines put pilots and flight attendants there for layovers. Near enough to The Strip but not on it.

I had a great stay there last summer.

Chicken wings at the restaurant Suede located in the hotel are the are best around.

 

Vdara is on the strip but has no casino. Would be pretty convenient to Mandalay.

 

Since most on the board go to Vegas to be in the heart of the action, we probably aren't the best group to ask where to go to "get away from it all". It sounds like you've picked something that meets your requirements.

 

To be honest, that's my every trip.

Hence my stays at the Mansion.

But I wasn't going to suggest that to the OP.

 

I would suggest Staybridge Suites. Away from the Strip but still close. Same amenities and service, but prices might be better.

 

I'd vote MGM Signature. Quiet, usually reasonably priced, still close to dining options in MGM, etc.

Not a terrible walk thru MGM, NYNY, and to Excal for the tram to Mandalay.

 

If the reviews are good, it's probably fine, and exactly like any other La Quinta suites. In my finite experience, La Quinta suites are generally very nice, whereas La Quinta Inns are usually older and converted from some other hotel brand, and have lower standards.

I've stayed at the Hyatt Place, a similar type of hotel, located north of the airport (across from the Hard Rock hotel) and it was perfect for my purposes. Here is my long-winded account of the experience if you are interested.

 

I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn south strip several times for business and it has served me well. It's close to the premium outlet mall which has a lot of dining options plus free shuttle to the Town Square mall (better dining options) and Mandalay.
