    My Trip Report

Just got back Friday, February 6th from the Beau Rivage. We arrived at Port Columbus International airport on Tuesday, February 3rd about 2 hours prior to the flight like we were instructed to. The charter airline was Sun Country which does not fly our of Columbus. We were instructed to report to the Charter Service ticket counter in our packet of information we received in the mail. You will receive your luggage tags that you have fill out along with your itinerary. We found ourselves waiting for and hour before the counter crew arrived to check us in. This was ok because the plan was full and the dedicated check in line became long very fast. However once the ticket counter crew arrived it was a very smooth check in process. Seats on the flight were pre-assigned and the tickets are preprinted. You just walked up to the check in counter with your ID, dropped your back and another lady gave us our boarding passes. Check in was very smooth and you can tell they have their processes down. They had 4 ladies working the ticket counter for us.

You are allowed one free checked bag and one carry on. The plane was waiting at the gate when we got through security. We only waited like 20 minutes and then they began to board the flight. They first boarded first class, then they boarded the back of the plane to the front. One note, the extra $150 for a first class seat is not worth it in my opinion, as you only get a bigger seat no upgraded services. Flight out of Columbus, OH was smooth and uneventful. When we reached cruising altitude of 40K feet they began drink service. They offered us middle shelf liquor, soda, coffee and pretzels for a snack. I did not get a drink as the liquor brands were not to my liking. They did give you the full can of soda so I just got a Diet Coke.

Just after the drinks were served they began to play the pull tabs. You could purchase each pull tab card for $1, so I purchased 5 of them. I ended up winning $25 on an instant pull tab. If you get a pull tab with a red number then you have a chance at the jackpot. The lady that won the jackpot ended up with like $230. They also did a $5 pull tab game which I purchased one ticket but didn't win. It was a fun game and made the 2 hour flight go by very quick. The atmosphere on the plan was very upbeat and the flight crew/attendants were all very nice. Probably the best customer service I have ever received on a domestic flight. But then again it was a casino charter so everyone is going to be in a good mood and with the games played it got everyone in the spirit.

Upon arriving at the Gulfport/Biloxi airport you immediately went to the charter busses that were waiting for you. You did not have to pickup your luggage as they deliver it to your room. The busses drop you off at a dedicated charter bus entrance into the casino. Before exiting the bus a representative from the Beau Rivage came onto the buss and told everyone where to go. If you are Platinum or Noir you by-pass the regular line downstairs and go immediately up to the VIP lounge. I only noticed a few of us that checked into with the VIP lounge (more about the lounge later). Rooms were pre-assigned and check-in for us was very quick in the VIP lounge. Our luggage was delivered like an 30 minutes after our arrival.

We have never been the Beau Rivage before so we immediately began to explore the property. We were surprised at house nice this casino was. It immediately reminded me of a small Bellagio. It had the grand atrium type ceilings and the casino floor was decorated very similar to Bellagio and in some of the exact features of Bellagio are present on the casino floor and throughout.

    IMG_0193.jpg IMG_0194.jpg IMG_0196.jpg

The casino itself overall though is small, but we found this to be a nice feature. Although it was on the smaller side they had plenty of slot machines and table games to choose from. I played multiple slot machines which I normally don't do as I'm more of a table game player. However the slots here at the Beau I found to be much looser than Vegas. It was actually fun playing slots here as you we hit multiple bonuses etc. I ended up hitting $1500 on a Buffalo Herd type slot machine that had expanding lines. The lines expanded to like 125 pay-lines and I ended up hitting. When I do play slots in Vegas very rare do I hit.

The dealers at the table games were extremely friendly. We laughed and were having a really good time. Wednesday night I ended up playing at a $10 a hand BJ table with a dealer named Jason. He was very nice and the whole table was laughing and having a good time. I ended up doing very well and started hitting around 11:00 p.m. and began spreading my bids from $150 to $300 a hand with no pressure from the pit. I was tipping Jason and every time he said thank you sir. Jason took a break around 2:00 a.m. and the next thing I noticed it was like 3:00 a.m. and I had $8200 sitting in front of me. Jason had moved to another table and it was time for him to go home. I saw him walking towards my table and he came over and shook my hand before he went home and thanked me for all the tips and bets I made for him. I thought that was a very nice gesture on his part, but I knew he appreciated it. The drink service at the tables was incredible and fast. I never had to wait for a drink but I was tipping $5 a drink, but the cocktail waitress was very funny and we joked around.

The food that we ate was very good and choice of restaurants were very good and plentiful. We found the Terrace Cafe to be more than your typical cafe as far as quality of food. We did eat at the Buffet. I know if you follow me on here I generally don't eat at Buffets but I did try it and have to say I was surprised. The quality of food was higher than Buffet quality, it was hot and fresh. And being in the south they had several local foods and I love southern food.

Overall my impression of the Beau Rivage was excellent. I had a winning trip, coupled with the Sun Country folks having this charter service down to a "T", It was a very fun, amazing trip. I will be going back in the near future, and I encourage you to check them out.

I just got a very nice offer from Beau and am thinking about trying them out. Were you able to get any of your food comped?

Do they usually take your EC's before comping off other things there? Also received a charter invite and just wondering since i have never been.

yes, for the past couple of years, that's been their policy. anything above the $200/day RFB limit comes from ECs.

that's the main reason I haven't been back there in 18 months.

one time I had 40k theo in 2 days and had to leave 10k in comps on the table

because I couldn't take any wine home because they would have just raped all my ECs first.

I wouldn't mind if they just took the ECs you earned that trip before any extra primary comps. that's fine.

but when you have several thousand ECs saved up from Vegas trips

and they won't give you any of your unused primary comps until they take them all, that's ridiculous.

Very interesting since it is an MGM property and why it is different. I wonder if this is how MGM nat'l harbor will be also. I would be upset if they took my EC's first since I have racked up a nice sum.

Everything in Biloxi and Detroit is very different even though they're all MGM.

They're much tighter and take advantage of the lack of competition.

Sounds almost like how the borgata does it with taking your comp dollars first. I used to have a host there that would leave my comp dollars for shopping etc but he no longer works there.

I wouldn't say Biloxi has a lack of competition, its just the Beau is the nicest property in town (for now).
I really liked what the Nugget did with their remodel and would stay there in a heartbeat.

I am a $125 to 150 avg bet craps player, and they usually will comp my meals but they do take my EC's first. The started this a couple of years ago about the time they started having different levels.

There is a lot of competition in biloxi and I like the IP and Hard Rock and golden Nuggett a lot.

The Beau remains the nicest property in town, but they are sure living on their reputation more than they should. They refuse to put money into remodeling the rooms. The furniture sucks and looks like it belongs in my grandmother's house. They haven't bothered to replace the BBQ resturaunt with anything even though they own all of the restuarnts on property. Vegas is squeezing them for all the profit they can so Murren can make his quarterly numbers.

I've heard the GN is really doing a good job taking mid level customers from the Beau and frankly i'm glad to see it. They need a kick in the ass.

Frankly, if you can get past hating CET, which I can't, the new Harrah's is actually not bad if you stay in one of their suites. Hard Rock is a much more lively option if that's your thing.

IF they ever legalize gambling in Miami, I am convinced it will devastate Biloxi and leave no more than 3-4 casinos top. The place survives mid week on junkets, many of which come from the Florida market.

IMO whether this practice is good or bad probably depends on your level of play. We're not high stakes gamblers but do play a lot so the fact that they take all of our EC's and then comp the rest is a good thing if you're this type of gambler. I think we had about $250+ in EC's on the last 3 night chartered trip we went on (about 2 weeks ago) and the host took those and then comp'd everything else, which was about $600+ in F&B charged to the room. So....I know our play alone doesn't warrant room and all the F&B (not to mention the flight) but between our play and EC's it works out well for gamblers like us, but clearly sucks if you're a High Roller and have a lot of EC's from Vegas. Gamblers in that category basically get screwed out of and comps that would be based strictly on play.

On a non related note....my only complaint about the Beau is the smoke. It's probably a combination of an older HVAC system and the fact that it appears a lot more people in the south smoke than what you see in Vegas. Either way, our clothes are pretty much saturated with that smell when we pack up to come home.
