We are renting a car in vegas for about 4days. Where are some cool places to go? We are not really big on gambling, so what would you guys recommend?

Drive out through Boulder City to the Dam... a quick 25 minute drive or so and a great way to spend half a day touring a true engineering marvel.

I second the first two. You could also look at Laughlin, Oatman AZ, Mt Charleston, Amargosa, and Death Valley.

I second Valley Of Fire. Do one way around the lake and stop in at various turn-offs and such.

For a longer trip, Death Valley would be nice this time of year.

Zion is absolutely gaw-jus, but it's probably a bit chilly up there this time of year.

Zion and Grand Canyon are both spectacular but you will have to put in some driving. Also if doing Grand Canyon dont do west rim, north or south are way more impressive. If you just want something closer i would recommend Red Rock, Hover Dam, and Valley of Fire, not nearly as nice but still worth a visit.

I must be in the minority but red rock canyon is crap compared to valley of fire. In fact the only good thing about red rock is that you can stop in the visitor center and use the can. Oh, and the red rock casino nearby. Valley of fire is pretty cool. The wind blown rock formations are sweet and the ride up the road to the top of the hill offers some great views and photo opportunities if there aren't cars pushing you. The added bonus is the indian store where you can buy your alcohol and fireworks. lol

Death valley is really cool this time of year. Flowers all over the place and the valley may be a lake. It is so strange to see such life from a place called death valley and which you know gets 120 degrees in the summer.

You're not in the minority. I wouldn't call it crap, but I would say it's more like RRC is the warm-up act for VOF. :)
