I have decided to make either the Golden Gate or The D my new "home base" in downtown Las Vegas. However, I just found out from the host department that their player club programs are completely independent from one another and are not linked in any way. Therefore, I only want to give my action to one of them.

I have an average bet of about $100 to $150 per roll at craps (not including odds) and blackjack, and will open a line of credit of about $10,000 at one of those casinos for a trip in February. The funny thing is that I will not be staying at either property as I will be traveling with a volleyball team that I coach, and we will be staying at the Cal. No interest gambling at the Cal or Mainstreet as I need a little bit of separation from the team and the parents in the evenings on this trip. I will probably stay at Golden Gate or the D again later this year, perhaps a couple of times, so future comps and value is important to me.

Looking for any thoughts or feedback. Which casino and property would you select if you had to pick? Both have dancing dealers, the Golden Gate seems a little more intimate, but the D has more dining options. Do you think at my average bet I could swing a discounted suite at GG on a future trip?

    Thanks!

I have a little insight to share on this. I will send you a PM.

Publicly, I would choose the D. Andiamo's (the steak house) is, IMHO, an excellent steakhouse. The slot selection is good for a small casino. I feel "lucky" here. The CEO often tours the casino and eats at Andiamo's. Those things may or may not matter to you, but I like them.

Golden Gate has Dupar's, which is an excellent breakfast restaurant, and on a par with the D Grille for lunch and dinner.

The D also has Coney Island Hot Dogs (and McDonald's), which is open 24 hours a day and good snacks.

Their high limit slot pit is a little small (maybe 10-12 machines, but they have lots of dollar machines on both the first and second floor.

What is the length of your stay. That kind of bank roll for 4 days or less will get you RFB probably limo. I cant stand the volume at the D but the dining options at the gate not very good.

I play and stay at both properties. Your AVG bet would get you a suite and transport at the GG for sure and probably at the D.
I like both places. I probably split my gambling time 50/50 at the locations and receive reasonable offers for my play.
And.. if you choose GG and have good play, i'm sure they can hook you up with food at the D if you ask.

    Golden Gate

I think your play will be appreciated at either property but if I were you I would take the GG over the D. The elevators at the D are extremely slow and IMHO a Golden Gate Suite trumps a D room any day. With your play I definitely would not take less than fully comped suite, transport to and from the airport, and full comps at Dupars. The bar should comp anything except maybe the highest priced liquor. I would definitely hit the host up for comps at the D restaurants as well but would not be surprised if they said "No". Almost everyone's offers are going down since the economy is improving and casinos don't have to buy business anymore. I heard Derek Stevens hangs out at the GG Bar a lot.

Ah, but IMHO, the D suite trumps the GG suite any day. I just stayed in the D suite this past weekend (my host treated me). 4 TVs (3 in the "living room"), 2 refrigerators, Check them both out at

    www.vegastripping.com

I'm a slot player so the D has it over GG for my normal play, but a craps player it should be 50/50. Also, the hosts work both properties and my host at the D has told me that anytime I want a room/suite at GG just let her know.

    Just my .02

Do you think he's Craps play will get him a suite at D? If so than you are correct about the D suites being nicer. Thought he might just get comped a regular room at D.

Thanks for the input everyone, especially DaiLum with the inside info/host help. I have decided to open up a line at The D and give most of my action there. I have heard that The D will also look at my action at the Golden Gate, so I may also open up another $10,000 line of credit there.

I think the biggest thing that swayed me is the fact that The D has more dining options. Depars is great, but having access to a nice steak place pushed The D over the top for me. I'll write my thoughts and comments when I return from my trip in Februray.

Good choice. you couldn't go wrong with either choice IMO. and my host does look at my play at both places. One time I asked for something at the D and he said "your play has decreased" - I asked him to check my GG play and about an hour later everything was covered.

I mean, the 2 are literally a 3 minute walk from each other so i would imagine {unless you're allergic to the outdoors} hitting up both dining options would not be much or a problem.

The slot clubs are separate but they will look at the action for both. Suites at GG are nice. I think I took pics of them in my TR from New Years and posted them in if you care to take a peek. I have not heard fabulous things about The D rooms but the casino is better than GG. I pretty much do all my gambling at GG, D, and Four Queens when DT. But, I would take that action to The D.

Weird bathroom set up. There's a curtain that cuts off the bathroom if required. Awesome 2 person shower room though.

Is there a presidential suite in the GG on the top floor? Im sure i saw it on the hotel tv channel when i stayed in Nov 14.
