I know all about swiping your card to check a balance, or gambling for a hour before you catch a flight being counted as a gambling day, but what about paying with points at a Boyd restaurant?

We're going to stay at Plaza this upcoming trip and just thought I would use some of my points to eat at the Boyd places since we have so many points. Does a swipe in the restaurant to pay with points, count the same as inserting a card in the casino?

EDIT: Thinking about this a little more, wouldn't this only come into play if i was a registered guest? If i went to Suncoast, Sam's and Gold Coast all in the same day and didn't gamble at any of them, but swiped my card for food...?

I would think so...since the swipe would indicate your position within their resort...so they know you are there and have the opportunity to gamble...but dont...

This is an important question that VMB peeps want to know the answer to.

Along the same lines, when I asked our host at the Four Queens the same question, he said 'this is the question I get asked the most these days' and the answer was 'no' it did not trigger a day to use points at the Four Queens restaurants.

I still didn't believe him though, just in case.

This would also be my educated guess. This is definitely the case with CET with Hunter verifying that. If I was a player that had RFB covered, this would also frustrate me...what are you going to spend the points they give you on? Either slot play at a reduced rate or overpriced crap at gift shops you really don't need?

When I asked this question in May, the answer I got was yes, it does trigger a gambling day.

I think an advantage to this board is information from the experience of the masses....I think when on a Boyd property ask this very question and post the reply. Going next Thursday and will do both. Insincere replies will show themselves eventually. Lets see what they say.

If you ask 10 different employees, you'll get 10 different answers I bet...
With comps, it's 100% trial and error (unless you can find an intelligent employee that you trust)

haha.....as in deflategate(?)....just looking for a preponderance of evidence such conditions exist.....I can see how it could be viewed by the casino as comparable to using "free slot play" and then leaving the casino without playing with REAL money. But come on. If you charge it to the room on check-out day and it is then comp'd by the host; does THAT count as a gambling day vs. using points upon leaving the restaurant?.......Picky Picky Picky.....
