Last time I was there (Mid August) It was still up and running. I cant imagine them taking it down. On a side note to that, I hit the 125-1 horse with a 4 coin bet on it. I agree with you that it is a blast to play, can sit with a tiny bank roll and play forever on it, the music they play upstairs is cool to.

I can't wait to sit and get hammered and yell at the horses...

Having said that, I have never played, only seen quick videos of it. I understand only 4 horses race, but can someone detail on how it works? What bets are there? Does it take only quarters? Legit quarters, or can you use bills?

Its 5 horse running around, you play with ONLY quarters, you feed them into the machine and it keeps track of how many credits you have. There are 8 or 10 betting options, you have to pick the first and second place winners. Like horse 1 and 5 would be 1-5 on the button. Each race, you have like 20 seconds to make your bets, you base them off the odds you like. Each race will be different, but usually the race follows normal odds, the favorites will win, but there will be a few favorites so it can be tough to pick the winner. It also pays out in only quarters, but there is a cashier right beside it that will turn them into paper super fast.

That sounds awesome. You recall how many betting stations there are? And is it usually somewhat full or more empty?

I want to say like 12 betting spots, you can get a good crowd around it. Ive seen it packed out before with people waiting to get in on it, other times it sits completely empty. It probably just depends on how busy the casino is in general, which to be honest is pretty varied sometimes. You shouldn't have a problem getting a seat at it though.

There is also one at MGM in case you're on the strip.

We have had so much fun at this game! I never stay up all night, but have pulled a couple of all nighters just playing Sigma and getting drunk with strangers/friends I didn't know already. One time I saw a guy win $350.00 in one race with a .50 bet. That was a lot of quarters!

I ALWAYS go there whenever I'm downtown! That is a fun game! Drink service at the Sigma Derby table is great too, they come faster than I can finish them. As far as sucking up free drinks on the cheap, this can't be beat. A few quarters every couple of minutes!

I've had reasonably good luck playing the next to favorite and next to longshot.

LOL, last time I was there, the lady next to me tapped me on the shoulder, holding a bill, and asked me where the bill insert slot was! :) :) :)

Your memory is failing you. The most you can win on a $0.50 bet is $100 (winning on the 200 for 1 longshot). Last trip I saw one guy put a dollar on it at MGM for a $200 win while I passed on betting on it. Stupid me.

Woops you are right. I don't know if it is my memory failing or it was too many tequila shots that night. I could have sworn he said it was just a .50 cent bet. Sorry I didn't mean to pass on bad information.
