In and out is low grade dog food compared to shake shack....with one caveat, getting rid of the crinkle cut fries at shack was a big mistake, although they still had them at the Mets location last summer

The Chatter article said they brought the fries back because of complaints. The LV site has the crinkle fries.

Yea they were def a downgrade, esp when you factor in the cheese sauce. The fresh cut ones were not a good vehicle for the cheese sauce but even without it I preferred the crinkle cut. They could never get the fresh cut crispy enough for some reason

Going public is not something I'd want to hear if I was the fan of any restaurant. Accountability to share holders along with expansion of scope leads to bad things more times than not.

I think they are only selling about 10% of the company in the IPO so maybe there won't be the standard amount of earnings pressure.

I usually try to hit up the downtown location for shorter lines, but I've almost always seen at least a short line there. And those NYC locations have been there for years and have lots of good competition. I think there is something unique about the flavor. And I am VERY happy to hear they have returned to the crinkle cut fries. That natural cut shit was a debacle, it pained me the moment I saw it.

Those calorie menus are a bitch though.

I still have to rank my burgers as follows:

    #1 Portillos
    #2 Shake Shack
    #3 Runza

    That's quite a geographically diverse selection! :)

(I daresay many of the folks here have never heard of Portillos or Runza.0 :)

The ones I like are the big combined Portillos/Barnellis. You can take a group there which includes the most picky and fussy eaters and EVERYONE will find something they enjoy! :)

Portillos has the longest drive-thru lines I've ever seen

There's a reason for that. For fast food, Portillo's is quite good.

I like the Italian beef. A friend who is a "burger guy" loves the cheeseburgers there.
One location in a strip mall parking lot the line will stretch out from the Portillos into the strip mall parking lot and finally out into the street.

At the Schaumburg location they send out cops or community officers to direct traffic dusing the food " rush hours"

Not to totally derail the conversation, but has anyone been to the Buena Park location? I hit one up on my drive this summer from Philly to LA and had two sandwiches, one italian beef and one sausage. Both were pretty good, especially the beef. Buena Park is a little ways away, but in the summer I'll be making drives from SD to LA and back and forth, and maybe a visit will be in order.

Runza fries put all other fast food fries to shame. Simple crinkle cut fries, salted to perfection and almost always piping hot. But when did they get rid of the italian runza?

At Husker-Minnesota game, me and this dude we're giving those Runza dudes soooo much shit for not having cheese runzas. My brother in BYOV (bring your own velveeta). Funny thing was that guy worked on Arias elevators, I thanked him for providing such an excellent puke recepticle for me..

Shake Shake fries are similar to runza, with a little bit of Superdawg to em

I love Barnelli's more than I like Portillos. I wish they would spin it off into standalone restaurants. Chicken Scilliano is the bomb!
