    My Trip Report

Okay, so I really let the ball drop with my last trip report. I could make up some ridiculous excuses about ninja monkeys and sharks with laser beams, but let's be real here. My bad.

I'm heading to Vegas on a solo trip tomorrow. As usual, a couple K budget and a lot of drinking and gambling. Video poker, lots of time downtown and off strip and some serious comp grinding. I'll also be glued to the big screens anytime there's an NFL playoff game. I'm in town until at least the 12th.

It's redemption time. Vegas got my full budget last trip, and took me for $800 the previous trip. Time to fatten up that wallet with something other than players club cards.

I'll be pulling an all nighter, staying at Sam's Town for two nights, staying at Orleans for three, doing another all nighter, and finally two nights at Gold Coast. This might be my last stay at Sam's Town for awhile. I think I got on their naughty list. The offers have completely dried up despite heavy play there and Emerald status. One of the slot attendants probably didn't like my recent success.

I'm still getting the occasional free room from Orleans and Gold Coast despite the light play I give those two Boyd properties. The Main Street Station offers keep coming as expected. I booked the 3 nights at the Orleans using my Emerald tier reward. You get this for reaching Emerald status, it's good for 3 nights at a Boyd Vegas property of your choice. I was able to book a premium room with that offer.

I'll do my best to keep this updated every day or two.:wink2:

Good luck! Especially with the all-nighters! Even solo, I would hate to do it.

Thanks Tringlomane. The all nighters are a little rough, but I like a challenge. A good time of the day to get my daily average up.

I'll be wearing my VMB armband in case I run into a fellow VMBer.

I wouldn't have the nerve to be "homeless" in Vegas. The $'s for a room could be cheap vs gambling all night if on a bad run.

The flight was uneventful, I decided I would spend the all nighter gambling downtown. I caught the WAX bus from the airport. It took twice as long as usual due to heavy traffic. Close to an hour trip. Around 6 PM I arrived. Downtown was packed as expected. Four Queens refused to check my baggage, so I had to walk over to Fremont Casino. Flashed my emerald card, they were fine with checking it overnight. I hit the VP machines at Four Queens. I played for about and hour, hit two 4oaks, broke even and decided to grab dinner at Chicago Brew Pub.

I opted for a Philly and a Heff, Both were decent. The Heff was a little more watery than i'm used to. The company was pretty good. They have some open loungers in the corner of the bar where I spent dinner talking football with a bunch of friendly Cowboys fans. The bill was less than $15 for the sandwich and large beer. I had plenty of comp dollars left over from my last trip to cover it.

After dinner was a disaster... I hit 1 4oak, and then nothing...I lost a few hundred playing quarters for a couple hours, then switched to mostly playing dollars. I tried Four Queens, The D, Main Street Station and California. From 8:00pm - 12:30am I didn't hit a single 4oak. I had to stop loss myself for the evening. Down $1200... This REALLY sucks when your plan is to play through the night. What to do?

I grabbed a beer at Chicago Brew pub. They closed at 1:30. From there I head to 777 Brew Pub to watch TV and nurse a couple more. I hung out there until 4am or so, mostly chatting football with the bartender and a waitress. I headed back to Four Queens to use some more of my comp dollars on breakfast. No complaints, good as always. I spent the rest of the morning killing time at the shoot to win craps, winning a bit of money, then dumping it back into the VP machines. Again no 4oak, but no affect on the bank roll. I eventually grabbed my luggage and hopped onto the Sam's Town shuttle. They had no problem checking me in at 9am, probably because of the emerald card. I caught a nap, going to head down in a bit to watch some football and play some quarter VP. Time for some redemption...

Thanks for the update. Not sure how you manage to pull these all nighters!

Bummer on your VP luck so far and I hope you turn it around this weekend.

The last time I pulled an all nighter it was playing pai gow tiles for 11 hours straight with four of the nicest, patient older Asian gentlemen I have ever met. It was surreal... to this day I have no idea how to play that game.. in just flipped my tiles over after they all set their hands and they helped me.

Now I'd rather hit the room around midnight so I can play in the mornings and have my pick of machines... sipping on Baileys and coffee.

Go get em today! Good luck!

Saturday was football, nap and play VP. I got down to the sports book a little to late to throw some money down on Arizona. My first lucky break of the trip. They just couldn't overcome the injuries. Arians is a good coach, but they should have tried to hunt down a decent quarterback instead of pulling Lindley back from San Diego's practice squad.

I played VP for a couple hours but just didn't feel it, one 4oak and $150 down I decided to call it. I watched Steelers/Ravens and napped the rest of the day.

Sunday the plan was to run at least 5k through the machines between watching football. Sam's Town has a January promotion - Sun-Tue you get $5 in freeplay for every 500 in base points up to $50 (you get the freeplay the following day at noon). I lost a couple hundred on the floor before switching to the bartop at the Winchester bar. The bar was good to me. I hit 4 aces, two 4oaks on back to back hands and a couple more before bleeding down a couple hundred from my high, even for the day. The rest of the day I couldn't get much going. I bounced around the casino losing a few hundred, watched Dallas/Detroit and ended the night back at the bartop, making a bit of a recovery. I was going to try the FPDW, but they shut down the whole bank of them at 10pm, they were still shut down at 3am. Finally crashed, down $1500 for the trip. Off to Orleans today for 3 nights.

I wish I could pull all nighters on purpose! I usually stumble to bed around 7 or 8 am anyway....

Good luck the rest of the trip!

I hope the wins start coming for you! And as a die hard Panthers fan, I should have 'counseled' you to put money on Carolina :). Not that I'm biased or anything lol

Monday I noticed that they have partially eliminated the FPDW bank at Sam's Town. There are still a few nickle and quarter machines, but they're mixed in with a couple other full pay games. I didn't take the take to scour the whole casino to see if they made any additional changes. Instead I headed to the bartop which was up to $1700 or so.

Play there was a little slow, I ended up in a couple long conversations about Vegas and recent hits. One of them was with an occasional VMBer, OldSchoolVegas? Time flew by. I finally cashed up a bit, down $1300 for the trip. Only $100 down since checking into Sam's Town. I caught the shuttle to Harrahs, walked the short walk to Ballys and caught the shuttle to Orleans.

After checking in and taking a short break, I headed down and decided to check out the Emerald lounge. Nothing fancy, but they do have a self serve expresso maker. I grabbed a cup and hit the VP. First stop the quarter triple play progressive. The progressive was near the break even point. It was a butt kicking. I lost $300 fast. From there I put $200 into an Ultimate X machine. I don't play these very often due to the generally lousy pay tables, but I figured WTH. I was down to about $50 before mounting a comeback. I got it all the way up to $500 before cashing out even. Man this is an addictive game... More on that later.

I grabbed dinner at the Oyster House. I loved their Seafood chowder last time I was there. I ordered it again and it didn't disappoint. It's seriously packed with seafood and well worth the $11. After dinner I played some bartop. They have 9/6 DB at one of their bars that has a fast climbing progressive. It was close to 2k so I decided to play it for a couple hours and have a few micros. They have some pretty good beers on tap at the Orleans. I played until about 1:30, cashing out even.

Sunday I decided to head over to The Palms. I played a little bit of deuces and some DDB, but just wasn't feeling it. I headed over to the Gold Coast. The Ultimate X started talking to me... I put in a hundred and was quickly dealt a 4 to a royal (first 4 cards) after a dealt 2 pair. For those who aren't familiar with the game that means for all 3 hands I had a 3x multiplier. I couldn't convert... A dealt royal would've been 9k, convert on 1, get 3k. After that I kept feeding the beast until it ate all my money... Down $700 for the day, 2k for the trip... Ouch. I quit gambling for the day.

I decided to catch the Lord of the Rings movie at Orleans and spent some of my slot points on dinner at their dinner. Both were good, taking my mind off yet another butt kicking... I crashed early.

Today I headed back to the Palms. I played deuces for a couple hours. VERY FRUSTRATING. I hit a ridiculous streak of natural 4oaks, 3's and 4's several times each... No 4 deuces though. I lost a bit and found a bank of VP machines with a spin on 4oak feature (I think the pay table is set higher than it should be, I need to verify. I played it, but blanked of the 4oaks. Down $200 for the day. Down $2200 for the trip... I'm going to stop loss myself at another $500 for the trip. If I don't, this thing could get way out of hand. I still have another 5 days in Vegas. I might be spending a lot of time watching TV in the room and drinking cheap beers the rest of this trip...

Sorry about your losses!! Hope you can get it back soon, considering you still have so many days in Vegas left. Pulling that all nighter on your first night in Vegas, and losing so much right away does not sound like a great idea, since you were planning to be there so long. Wouldn't it be better to cut your losses, get a room for 100.00 bucks and go relax? Just my opinion, sorry!! Enjoy the rest of your trip and please win back some money!!
