Normally when I go to Vegas I go with friends, I'm going on my first solo trip next month.

I was thinking of steak. What's a good steak restaurant for a solo traveler?

I'm staying mid-strip and I prefer to stay on the strip.

I make solo trips all the time and a steakhouse is almost always on the schedule. I don't think I've ever run into a situation at any of them where I felt uncomfortable or unwelcome as a solo diner. So, my recommendation would be to just go wherever you like to go with friends or family.

If you want names, though, MY favorites are Carnevino, SW and Craftsteak. I prefer to eat at the bar when dining solo and these places all have fantastic food and service and comfortable bars that serve the full menu. If you don't want to eat at the bar, I'd still recommend these places based on the food/service. But I don't think I've eaten (solo) in the dining room at any of them so I can't speak about how good they'd be for solo diners.

For a value play would you consider the steak special at Ellis Island?

I have soloed many, many restaurants. I have sat solo at a table, and I have sat solo at the bar.

If you feel weird sitting at a table by yourself, sit at the bar. I guarantee you will get GREAT service at the bar.

Just about any steak house on the strip is good, real good.
