sushi that won't break the bank...

...and still fill me up. Going to vegas in February. I like sushi, but really do not know much about what to order. I like the sushi they have at buffets, but usually it is premade. I would like it fresh. Any suggestions?

 

What's your budget? It would help to know what amount will break the bank

 

Check the price before you order, but ask if they have any chutoro. It's my favorite. It's a type of tuna between the regular deep red tuna (maguro) and the super expensive fatty tuna (toro).
I don't know of any places in Vegas serving great sushi that will fill you up without breaking the bank. The chutoro was $15 per piece of sushi.

But if you want good sushi for a reasonable price, Todai at Miracle Mile is a sushi centric buffet. That's probably your best bet. Since they specialize in sushi they are constantly making it fresh. You can try a lot of variety there.

 

Many might frown on me for recommending an AYCE/a-la-carte restaurant but I'm a big fan of Sushi House Goyemon. It's located off the Strip so you need a rental car or taxi. The main issue is the wait time since their dining area is small but have a lot of customers... If I don't want to deal with the crowd but still want to go to an AYCE establishment, I usually go to Yama Sushi.

If you don't mind a roll for $20-30 then I recommend Blue Ribbon @ Cosmo. Great food and service but their prices are pretty high.

 

Certainly not high end sushi, but I feel the prices at 777 Brewpub at Main Street Station are pretty good for what you get. They have a dedicated sushi chef and a decent number of options. Rolls are roughly $6-$20. As an added bonus their beer is pretty good and cheap.

 

There's always Todai at the Miracle Mile shops if all you're looking for is to fill your belly. It's a sushi buffet, freshly made there. I first ate at one in Honolulu. Not sure of the price. Quality is what you'd expect from a buffet but it's filled with Asians.

If it's still open Sushi on Rainbow was a great deal and fairly high quality for an all you can eat mom and pop store front. Rental car or cab.

I don't go to either place anymore as I prefer better quality and am willing to pay for it. Good luck!

 

There's a run-down strip mall on the East side of LV Blvd (3049 S on the North side of Encore) that houses Rock N Roll Sushi. It doesn't look like much inside either - just a little Mom and Pop type diner - but the lowest sushi prices I've seen in the area.

I'm not really a sushi eater, but when I was in Las Vegas with my son a couple of years ago he chose Sushi Kaya for their all-you-can-eat sushi special.

150 pieces was $300, serving platters not included.

 

Have done Sushi Roku at Caesars Palace in the Forum Shoppes during happy hour a few times.

Sun-Thurs 4-7 PM and 4-6 PM on Fri and Sat if you don't mind eating early.

To the OP, I also recommend Todai. Those on a budget will fill their bellys here. Since you haven't specified what your budget is this seems like a good choice. It's on the strip so relatively close by.

 

I assume no offense was intended, but I find this post offensive, or at least misinformed. "Asians" are not a homogenous group. If you are trying to evaluate sushi restaurants based upon their clientele, you need to make a clear distinction between -- in particular -- Japanese and Korean clientele.

First hand knowledge... Platters!! And most expensive Sushi platters I have ever had. Even after negotiating with the Restaurant. For those of you in the restaurant business, It was #1 sushi though.
