I will be flying in on Thursday 1/1, expected to arrive at 10am. At the moment it looks like the weather forecast is for 1-3 inches of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday night. How does LV handle snow, I would assume not very well...?

Anyone think there will be problems with flights arriving on that Thursday morning?

Thanks all! This will be my 4th trip and I'm just getting antsy about the weather now! Was hoping to arrive before the college football playoff games start so I'm hoping I'm not delayed..

You'll have no problems at the airport. Unfortunately, most of the casinos shut down when it snows :(

The casinos love it, as people are stranded because the airport shuts down. Unless things have changed it doesn't have any snow equipment!
I was there when it snowed a few inches several years ago. The airport was closed and the casinos were happy. It was one of the slowest weeks of the year, I think it was just before XMas, and lots of people in the casino apparently were stuck there.
There was also an accident every 100yards on the roads!

It was very fun seeing snow on the palm trees though.

I was there at the same time too - looking out at the strip from my Caesar's Palace room. At one point the wind was so high one of the tower cranes at Aria was spinning like a top! Saw two accidents happen, both in slo-mo. When you're brought up driving in snow it's hilarious to see people who aren't trying to drive in it, particularly when what you're driving is yellow and you're from Somalia! I heard the traffic in Summerlin, because of the hills, was even worse.

If it does snow, even flurries, expect near complete chaos on the streets, they will be hazardous. The airport will slow down, maybe shutdown and will probably divert flights for a while.

Grab a beverage, find a nice warm place and hunker down for a bit. Watch yourself if you do drive and whatever you do, be careful while walking as accidents will be happening behind you and yu may end up like a bowling pin.

Two people say folks are trapped in the casino.
    One says they shut down.

    And what really happens?

Latest forecast by the way seems to be leaning towards flurries vs real snow on Wed. Only time will tell.

Shutting the casinos down was just a joke I'm sure. Casinos never shut down.

He was joking. They don't shut down :)
I second being careful walking anywhere near a street. I might be on an overpass watching the 'excitement' if it really snows.

Called McCarran this morning to check about landing NYE at 6:30pm. The lady on the phone said at this time (early this morning) the storm watch is still in effect for snow on NYE on the strip. She said if it does snow as they say that the airport will be closed to all flights incoming our outgoing. They would probably only close for a few hours but not taking the chance that its the couple hours that we are to land. Or taking a chance that the weather changes and theres no snow.

Decided to change our flight from NYE at 6:30pm to tomorrow arrival at 10am.

Would really suck to not be able to land and end up someplace else with no booked room or anything.

Safe travels to all this NYE.

I was in Vegas the week before Christmas in 2009 when it did snow a couple of inches.
The only issue was the airport, they had to close for several hours because they have no de-iceing or snow removed equipment.
The streets were just wet and everything else was open on the strip, except for one store in the forum shops that took it upon themselves to close because of the "Snow Storm".
That made me laugh since I'm from Chicago and that much snow doesn't make anyone blink around here!
