Heading down to Vegas for 6 nights for EDC week and it looks like Flamingo/Monte Carlo are similar in price.

Monte Carlo is okay, but I've never stayed at the Flamingo. Which is better? Leaning towards Flamingo (23/m) but will also be seeing if any other comps come in.

Flamingo would be a Go room, while monte carlo would just be a standard room.

If it were me, Monte Carlo. I just think it's a better overall property. Go Rooms are nothing to get excited about.

Stayed at Flamingo two years ago. Wasn't impressed at all. If location is you thing and you just want a place to sleep then its fine.

Flamingo has better pool (by a little, not a lot) and better location. Otherwise, MC is better in all respects

I would say Flamingo. The GO rooms are way nicer than Monte's standard. The pool at Flamingo will be crazy during EDC. The casino at Flamingo tends to be a little dull as do the restaurants, but I find the Margaritaville casino fun. The biggest determining factor should be, do you want to give your business to MGM or Caesars?

I like Flamingo a lot better. Maybe I've just been assimilated by CZR but Flamingo gives me more of what I want in Vegas.

I don't know if I should let the pool be the deciding factor; I may be there a day or two but plan on doing mostly dayclubs at wynn/cosmo.

Seems like everyone is split on this!

I would go with Monre Carlo. Been a long time since i stayed at Flamingo. MC has good access to other properties but most are MGM but I like those

Are you leaning towards CET or MGM more? If you do most of your play at MGM resorts I would defenitely go for MC. Both MC and Flamingo aren't the most fancy places down the Strip. The overall quality and condition of the resorts is about the same IMO. So it all comes down to location and being a CET or MGM person.

Personally I'd go for MC because I prefer the south side of the Strip and because I give my play to MGM resorts.

I've had rooms at both in the last year.
Overall the MC property is in better shape and not as run down. Much nicer food court and facilities.
Flamingo rooms are recently remodeled and are decent.

Biggest downfall to me at Flamingo is if you have a room on the LINQ side the music from the bars at street level is crazy loud in your room even in the higher rooms. I called down to see if there were any other rooms available and the guy on the phone acted like it was a normal thing, there were no other rooms.
Strip view rooms at MC have some music you can hear but nothing like The Flamingo.

One scary thing at the Flamingo. Cell phone chargers wouldn't stay plugged in, the outlets are so worn out they don't grip anything. Managed to find a metal 6 outlet strip connected to the TV on the floor. Plugged the phone in it and it just fell into it. I wiggle the plug and I can see blue sparks in the other 5 outlets. "WHOA" So I call down and they say they'll send maintenance up. We walk out the door and pass a maintenance guy, he was headed somewhere else but I explained to him what was going on. "that one of the metal power strips? yeah we see that a lot"
We checked out 2 days later and nothing had been touched.

Well, if it is still open Monte Carlo has the lazy river. I sure liked that on my last trip. Great old guy exercise being wisked around when they first open with no tube. just swimming.
I never had the Go room at Flamingo. I hear it is nice. I had the basic room. I was moved twice due to bugs in the room. The Do Not Disturb sign was so attractive that someone kept stealing it and the maid kept waking me up in the morning. Most places I could just call the front desk and they tell housekeeping. Not there. They wanted just the sign.
Monte Carlo has 2-6 spread limit poker. Flamingo has 2-4. I liked the Monte Carlo better.

I hear ya, but since the OP is going to Vegas for EDC, something tells me a little music from the street below isn't going to bother him :poke:

    D'oh!! good call! LOL

Whenever I go anywhere anymore I pack earplugs. I never imagined being able to sleep with them in until I went to graveyard shift. Get the right size and you don't even notice them. We've got a bunch of different sizes available at work so I grabbed some of each so my wife and both have a handful of our sizes in the suitcase.

If the pool day clubs are important, Flamingo is closer to Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazo it also has an easy monorail ride to MGM. Also the Go Pool at Flamingo is pretty close to a day club. Monte Carlo is easier to get to Cosmo though. The vibe of Flamingo is better in my opinion then Monte Carlo. I also think getting from flamingo to EDC would be easier then amonte Carlo but have no idea never been.

I feel ya. The wrong room at Cosmo drives me nuts with the noise from Marquee

I've been in a Monte Carlo standard room, photo below. It's a shoebox. Flamingo GO Luxury should be better.

Yeah I don't care about noise. Thinking I'll just stay with MC as I got a good rate and have stayed there before. To answer another poster, I give almost all of my play to Cosmo so I wouldn't be surprised if I could get a couple nights comped in there as well (just came back from a 3 night comped trip). I like the pool at MC and the food court, the room isn't that much of a big deal as it will just be for sleeping!

I love the mid strip. So for that and if the pool is an issue the big bird" gets the call. Having stayed at both (well not technically at the Flamingo but at the timeshare in back but had use of the flamingo"s amenities). I would lean that way. However if like THE MC and surrounding houses there you could stay there and would beok.

If its a general question of where to stay between the two and no specific criteria then I would go with Flamingo for the CET comps and its location.

The rooms are better at MC. MC is much cleaner than Flamingo. I was at the flamingo in April and the rooms were ugly and seemed totally outdated even with the remodeling. The carpets in the hallways at the flamingo were disgusting and falling apart. With that said the party vibe is better at Flamingo with its proximity to the Linq and bars. The pool at MC is nice and pretty good but Flamingos pool is better imo. If you are going to the day clubs at the other resorts mentioned than this shouldn't be a factor.
