was at golden nugget in Biloxi back in the spring and was going to play craps , I had a cigar lit
and I was told there was no smoking in the casino (cigars pipes)
I thought the guy at the table was kidding , but he got kinda pissy with me and said it was a new law
so I walked away and smoked in peace , later when I was done I asked one of the guys who stand around and watch things .
he said that it was a new law but they tried to not enforce it unless someone complained
but smelly cigarettes are o.k.? WHATEVER
the world has gone to hell
seems the pitboss at that table decided he didn't want my money ....I played craps every other casino but there to hell with em !

I'm likely in the minority on this one, but I enjoy the smell of a cigar. I'm a non-smoker, but rarely am I offended by smoking in a casino. There are the knuckleheads that feel the need to blow smoke in your direction, but in my experience, that is rare.

Hell, after a bakers dozen or so of bourbon on the rocks, I've been known to light up a cheap stogie. It's Vegas!

That must be a new regulation, (or specific to Biloxi proper) because there were several people smoking cigars at Sams Town in Tunica as of August 2014.

Before I light up a stink stick at a VP Bar I usually ask a non-smoker next to me if they mind. Esp. if it's a lady. I dont have to but I consider it just common courtesy.
The other night a young man asked Mrs JG if she minded the cigar smoke before he lit a cigar, she said go right ahead.
If I'm sitting there smoking when someone sits down thats a different story.

I agree that the aroma of cigar smoke is preferable to a regular cigarette. The problem is they throw off a helluva lot more smoke, and it can be a bit much if you're sitting right there. That said, I would never ask anyone not to smoke in a casino, since it's allowed and that's their right. If it's really bothering me I just move. It does amaze me how many gamblers smoke though (especially VP players), it seems like disproportionately more than the general population lol. After 10-12 hours in a casino inhaling second hand smoke, I sometimes wish they had better ventilation systems or more non-smoking sections.

My luck is always when asked I say no problem but then the ventilation draws the smoke directly toward me. Not the smoker's fault as they asked; but it never fails. Usually just make a much needed bathroom run.

Congrats to them on asking you to put it out - nothing runs me off a table quicker.

Second hand smoke is bad enough but a cigar is just down right shower worthy

Just because you can does not mean the rest of us care to indulge - how would you like it if someone came around and crop dusted you with a couple farts.

Take it outside away from the entrance and others or at least have the courtesy to ask if it bothers anyone.

Do you mind if I pass gas after my egg breakfast - I imagine you do. Just like I don't care to have my clothes and hair stunk up with your cigar smoke the rest of the day.

Christ sake have some respect for others.

Smoking is allowed in 99%+ of casinos..... respect for others? Your stance is a bit harsh, and this is coming from a nonsmoker.

You don't have a very good imagination then. Gas away. The louder the better. That would be pretty funny. I'm partial to crop dusting the whole strip after a good buffet.

This thread will quickly devolve into the pro-cigar anti-cigar discussion we've had a bunch of times. Maybe we should let this one rest.

While you and a majority of others (including myself) feel the same way, many casinos (esp in vegas) do not. I usually ignore the tables and machines with the smokers (esp cigar) unless it is a hot craps table or machine. If someone lights up I usually just leave the table (unless it is a hot table). Unfortunately you aren't going to get totally away from cigs and cigars and the smoke they produce. I especially hate when I get back to my room, take off my clothes only to smell all that cig smoke on them. I usually have to put them away in the bathroom or in the drawer so I don't smell them when I'm trying to sleep.

They do have some non smoking machines/areas in some casinos (Sam's town) but when they tried non smoking tables and sections they lost revenue from the smoking crowd.

I don't mind the mild thin cigars (and pipes) with the aromatic smell but I hate those stinky cigars. My dad smoked those things decades ago but had to stop when he started having one of his many heart attacks. I was glad that he couldn't smoke them anymore.

At the Casino Barriere in Deauville, France a couple of years ago I recall the only smoking option was a closed and ventilated cubicle about the size of a shower.
Didn't try having a cigar - would probably have been unable to see a thing.

My only objection to cigars is Vegas is the terrible quality you guys put up with in your continued struggle with the Castro brothers.

Two or three years ago we were told at a bar in Harrah's that cigar smoking is NOT allowed....so we went to the Quad.......but afterward we returned to Harrah's because we were staying there and if you look very closely, ALL Harrah's bars have very small signs saying cigar smoking is prohibited......HOWEVER, you can just move a few feet away and smoke cigars at their black jack tables.....makes no sense to me.
