I recently stayed at NY NY was not impressed. For one thing they overcharged me on the Resort Fee. When I made the reservation it said $22.40 tax inclusive but at checkout I was billed $28. I did their survey and let them know what I thought about my stay. It wasn't even average. I was contacted by one of their reps afterwards and asked why I was overcharged on the Resort Fee. It's a good thing I kept a email of the original reservation as I pointed this out to their rep otherwise they would have just gouged me. She says my credit card has been credited with the difference but I do not see it on my account.
The waste basket in the bathroom had the previous guests mess in it. The food was nothing to write home about. The server at Gallagher's seemed pissed off with her tip. We gave her around 30% but I guess she was expecting a lot more. The ATM machines in the casino wouldn't give me any cash even though I had money in my accounts. It went thru all the procedure and then at the end it gave me a message that the transaction could not be completed at this time. I have been checking those accounts daily in case I get scammed.
This was my first and most likely the last time I stay there. Seems like they have a real snotty attitude there.

I had a similar experience there last weekend with regards to room cleanliness and lack of decent food options. But the staff was friendly and helpful every time I interacted with them. It was really the main redeeming quality of the property. Sorry to hear they were snotty toward you

I have always had decent trips to NY NY. It have to know going in it is a mid tier hotel at best. Mistakes happen all the time with hotel bills. No matter what hotel you are at in Vegas. You really need to check the bills before checking out. I have had issues in the past with the cash machines in vegas too. It happened to me a lot at Aria a couple months ago. If i got declined i would just walk to the next one and it usually worked. It was not because of having no money in my accounts, something with the system, I always got paid though by just trying another ATM.

Remember when taking money out of an ATM in the States you have to factor in the exchange etc. Likely if you reduced the amount you were requesting it would have worked.

As for the resort fee, I am pretty sure they just recently increased the resort fee from $20 plus tax to $25 plus tax. However, if the resort fee wasn't "subject to change" you have a legitimate grip but for the $5.40 a day it's probably not worth the time you may have to spend to get back if it's still not showing on your account. But that would be up to you. Personally unless I stayed like 10 nights, I'd probably let it slide.

I stay here frequently as they give me the best offers of the MGM properties and I have never had a problem with cleanliness although I understand all it takes is one bad experience to turn you off from a property.

As for the ATM issue, that is why I just bring my money in cash or open a line of credit so I don't have to be concerned with any technical issues with the ATM or the outrageous Vegas ATM fees.

As for the overall vibe and service, I have never had a problem. VIP Services is always quick to get me a room upon arrival and go above and beyond to make sure I've been well taken care of. I'm sorry to hear of your experience because NY-NY is one of my favorite properties in Vegas and one of the very few that still seem to take care of me even though I only play $25 blackjack and craps between betting sports in the book.

"Come on over to CET, our trash gets picked up daily, our ATM machines gives you money freely, our waiters and waitresses never work for tips, they just love their job so much, and our resort fees are never overcharged, we stand by our commitment to gouge you equally and fairly, that's what our guests demand. There's no snotty attitude here, just the lenders who are snotty".

Had an issue getting free play added to my card. My host didn't note it on my file and when I produced the email, they said they needed to speak with her because anyone can fake an email. It was a full string between me and my host. I'll never be back.

It's possible the atm triggered a fraud alert? I had mine do that when I visited a casino in Amsterdam. I neglected to tell my bank before I left. Plus I had a charge originating near home within an hour or so of my atm so it looked suspicious. So it's possible your bank flagged the transaction.

Sorry to read about your horrible experience at NYNY. I have always had wonderful experiences. I, personally LOVE the food at Galleghers, however, the waiters always expect more evern when you tip them at very nice amount. I say give it a 2nd shot!

I will ask this with some expectation the OP is long gone.
Have you been to Vegas before? If so, where and when?
That may better explain your reaction to your most recent visit.

I only go to NYNY or the casinos around there for their cheap tables because I'm not a low roller. But I do like these older casinos based on their themes that are classics from when I was younger (pre-21) visits. As for the hotel rooms, I think I'd rather spend a good $40-60 more a night for a higher end casino like Cosmo/Aria/Wynn just for the comfort of my own stay.

I could be wrong but I think some banks just block ATMs in casinos. I have a Chase account and was not able to take out cash at the ATM at The Mirage or TI but walked over to the CVS (near NY NY, if I recall) and used the Chase atm there. Your milage may vary..

I'm betting this is it. Some banks are really crazy about gambling. And, I know mine will lock my account if I don't tell them I'm going to Vegas. They'd lock it with the first purchase, even if it was $1.99 at Walgreens for a bottle of water.

But, yeah, that stinks about what happened to ya. I'd hit up some of the other places that you played, and see what they can do for ya next time.

That's good to know about banks blocking ATM's in casinos. I did try 2 different machines and 3 different bank cards. I wonder if it is because I have the chips in my cards.
The gouging me with the Resort Fee still bothers me though. Lesson learned keep a hard copy of the reservation and really scrutinize the charges at check-out. Either way I will not stay there again as it was a big disappointment for what you pay. Thanks for all the comments and feedback.

I see your Canadian, so are we and we also have problems with the ATM machines in Vegas. Not sure if the Canadian cards have trouble in Vegas or what but we have figured out how to use the ATM's there without issue.

All casino ATM's seem to be different so may take 2 tries per ATM to find out which one works. We found that at some casinos when using the ATM we have to say "no receipt". If we push the "receipt" button then it won't work. Have tried at many ATM's there and if the first try doesn't work requesting a receipt then we try again requesting no receipt. I know that might sound strange but it works for us that way. Not sure if its because their Canadian cards or the bank itself or something to do with the pin.

We did have problems in NYNY and tried the "no receipt" and it worked. Same problem at Bellagio

We always loved staying at NYNY, got great service and clean rooms. The pool area sucks big time but they have the nicest casino on the Strip IMO (great vibe). But, NYNY lost our business. The one that was supposed to be our host didn't find the time to answer e-mails (not even after two weeks) and when we eventually got a reply after 3 e-mails we got a very minimal offer. One week later, the offer we got on our Mlife account was far better. After sending our host a new e-mail and getting no reply I said farewell to NYNY and wished them well. Will not go back there.

So you love staying at NYNY. Love it. Have a host that isnt doing their job and you will never stay again. So for all the great experiences that you loved you will never stay there again because you had a bad host. Ever try getting a different host??? Or just call the number on your card and speak to a host on duty. Its easy.

My host there is amazing. If i don't reply to her in a day or two she actually checks back in with me.

Its crazy how up tight and short tempered people are. Just relax baby, your in Vegas! Maybe people just need something to complain about because the spins are not going their way.
