Slots Penny Slot Suggestions

I am headed to vegas tomorrow and am primarily a slot player and was looking for suggestions on penny slots people like. I know slots have a high variance but I am looking for something that lets me play for a while without a huge bankroll. I would love that big win, but I really just like to play, and nothing frustrates me more than losing everything I want to lose for that session in just a few minutes without feeling like I got a chance to even play. So any suggestions for games that may end up losers in the end (aren't they all really....) but that seem to let you play for a while? I also love bonus games so those are a big plus for me!

I will probably be at Mandalay and Luxor the most, so if you have any specific suggestions for there, let me know.

 

If "long play" is your goal, then IMHO you should be varying your bet size downward.

Pennies have the highest house PC (up to 10% or more)

From that point, your should look at low volatility machines (typically) like IGT or Bally, and not high volatility machines (typically) like Konami or Aruze.

However, that being said, I played the Sinbad machine from Aruze the other day at Silver Sevens while killing time before heading to the airport. Plenty of bonus hits. All low payout, (4x total bet maximum), but my money lasted an extremely long time. After an hour I was only down about $5.00 playing maximum bet.

Beyond that, I can't give you specific names, because they have all been good or bad for me.

 

At Cosmo on my last trip I played Family Guy for hours on end, lots of small wins and few medium ones. Also my favorite slot there, big buck hunter same deal. (Past performance does not guarantee future results )

 

Goldfish II and Goldfish III seem to last a while for me.

 

I played Family Guy once, at Flamingo. Put in a ticket for about $46 and 15 minutes later it was gone. Was playing max lines X 1 or 2. So less than a buck a pull.

 

I had that experience with it as well at other places. So unless Cosmo had that payback higher on that machine or more likely I have the gamblers fallacy.

 

Played new Rolling Stones game over the weekend and never seemed to go up or down too much.

 

Luxor has lots of older slot machines, so does Excalibur next door.

There are a few things with slots:

- Almost all the slot machines put out in the last 3-5 years have extremely high volatility
- On one hand thats good because a 40 cent bet could win you hundreds of dollars
- On the other hand thats bad because the machines are so volatile that even at 40 cents a spin you can burn through $100 fast if you aren't lucky

- Older games will often be cheaper to play (9-20 lines) and often have a much much lower variance. This is games from the golden days of video slots like Cleopatra, Da Vinci Diamonds, My Rich Uncle, Rich Girl to the first wave of WMS G series machines like Kaboom, Seal Slide, Jackpot Party, All That Glitters, Freespin Frenzy
- On one hand thats good because with these machines you can usually play a long long time for a little money
- On the other hand thats bad because with such low variance it means the opportunity to win a jackpot is non existant

- The more times you go through your bankroll the higher the likelihood that you'll lose all your money
- Consider if you put $20 in a machine and were playing at $1 per spin: it only takes 20 spins to go through your bankroll one time
- At roughly 5-6 seconds per spin that will take less than 2 minutes to go through your $20 one time
- So you have to bet/play at a level relative to your bankroll

 

I mostly play video poker but last month at Planet Hollywood I watched my brother do pretty good at the newer Buffalo machine. I played a Monopoly slot by it and won $560 bucks on two bonus's on a .50 cent bet. I was impressed.

If you're playing pennies I would stay far away from the G+ Deluxe machines by WMS. They can be extremely unforgiving and go 1000+ spins without a bonus. I would recommend games such as Davici Diamonds, Wolf Run, Buffalo, Gold Fish III, Cheshire Cat if you want a good amount of play and a chance at decent wins. I would be wary of any game with "commercial branding". The bigger, louder and flashier are the games not to play.

You can get some nice wins on Konami games, but I've never had much luck on them.

If you're willing to play games with a potential cold streak, but the possibility of nice wins Money Burst machines by WMS are very fun. At a .30 bet, you can get some good play time.

 

Hard to beat video poker if you want to last a while, but understand the slots can be more entertaining.
Many of the penny machines do have minimums around 35 cents.
Start with $20, bet minimum and give it a few spins.
With the penny machines you win something each spin.
If you win absolutely nothing in the first 5 spins cash out and move on.
If you had a larger bankroll you could test out maybe 20 spins or so.
You will have to test out a few machines before you find a winner, but eventually you will find a machine that
grabs your attention and before you know it an hour has passed.

I have some decent results at BOMBAY..100 lines and up to $5 a spin..Free spins can add up (Once I had the machine to 65) I assume that is a good number.I only played this game cause a friend of mine told me about it from playing it in Fl at the Indian casinos..They are around in LV but not CET props.Two back -to-back at the Gold Coast just outside Ping Pang Pong..Pretty cool when the paying lines w/colors just obliviate the screen.You know you've hit something decent.
It's now a standard play for me once or twice a day to take a break from concentrating on VP.

 

Excalibur has a nice selection of penny slots. They have some older ones left me an earlier poster said, but they also have a lot of newer ones. They even have some newer ones set at $3 per point, where the same machine at Mandalay Bay is set a $10 per point ( if you use a mlife card). Last month the only slot I saw at Excalibur at $10 per point was the new 60's style Batman. The rest were all $3 per point. Some of my favs are Kenny Rogers, Lucky Larry, and Ghostbusters. I also like the colossus reel games. Have fun.

 

Screw slots...penny (or was it 2c?) 6/5 Bonus Poker at Luxor, you don't have play every line to max bet (max bet per line gives a bigger royal payout). Use the touch screen to adjust lines and bet per line.

Quick Hits is the machine I go to when I want my bankroll to last. You can bet from 30 cents to 1.50 and if you find a good one they usually let you play for hours!!!! If you want to win the jackpot you have to play max. Last month at Bally's I was playing this quick hit machine the whole night with the same $100 bill and when my money was almost gone I hit the jackpot for $1,600

 

Thanks for the tips folks, I had some good luck at a few different ghostbusters machines (not winning really, just prolonged play) and another machine that I cannot for the life of me what it was, but I think I played it for a good 45-60 minutes (I usually move on after 5-10 min).
