Just got back from our annual NFR trip to Vegas. We try to stay somewhere different each year we go, last year we were at Aria.
Since we found ourselves going over to Monte Carlo to play quite a bit last year, we decided to give it a try.

    BIG MISTAKE.

We were booked in the DIAMOND SUITE for 4 nights. We were not expecting luxury of some of the higher end hotels and I knew these suites would be dated, but I was shocked that they have let these rooms go like they have. Arrived to find the headboard completely off the wall and just propped up behind the bed, mildew and mold in the shower. Also minor compared to these things, but they do not offer 24 hr room service and have really bad hours at their other food locations.

We moved to the Delano as quick as poosible. Very nice update to THE hotel. Thank goodness for having somewhere to go. Dont think I will be giving the lower end MLife properties another look.

I was in a Diamond Suite from 11/29 through 11/1 and i liked the suite. The sofa did have a stain on it, which was gross. I wouldn't consider it a great suite, but there was a lot of space, a fridge, a nice wet bar area and the bedroom was a good size. The location of the room was good, right off the elevator also. The views were not very good, got some nice looks at the arena construction. This is coming from someone that doesn't book suites very often though.

Monte Carlo is in need of a renovation.

Personally, Monte, Luxor, and Excal are no-gos for me on the MLife side of things.

Thoroughly agree. I was in a Spa Suite on the 28th floor for six nights and while the bed was comfy the dresser drawers were broken. Also the hinges on the bar cabinet and drawers were too. The carpet needed replacing, wall paper too and a fresh coat of paint is desperately needed.

Just look at the wrinkled, stained, filthy carpet in the common areas. Disgusting. Really has gone downhill. They should take some of that arena construction money and spend it inside,

We were in Vegas at the same time as you for Nascar Championship Week. We stayed the first 3 nights at the Aria and LOVED IT. Checked into Monte Carlo for that Friday because I got it for free. I wouldn't stay at Monte Carlo again even if it was free. We were on the 12th floor in a regular room. I refused to take a shower. It was just creepy looking. I could reach up and touch the ceiling and I'm not tall. No internet in the room. In fact, I couldn't even get my Iphone to work in the room. Hated everything about that room. We stayed at the Flamingo in November and it was even luxury compared to the Monte Carlo room.

Yup, I would never stay at the MC. I'd rather go to NY-NY before stepping foot into a room at MC.

It's definitely a budget joint, you kind of get what you pay for. That being said, I have 6 nights booked at MC for EDC in June 2015 as I am only paying roughly $600 (which is a great deal as rates are through the roof on EDC weekend). Will be spending most of the time at EDC/Cosmo/Encore/Cromwell partying anyhow!

I agree they desperately need some renovations to the rooms and especially the common areas, but the casino looks great and is fun and customer service is generally good. Was just there a few weeks ago and the ice machine on our floor was broken for the whole five days we were there. The hallways are horribly maintained and the hours of the restaurants are just awful. Forget about room service, it's barely Denny's quality. But then again, it's a fantastic home base location and I paid $250 for four nights, including a Friday and Saturday.

I agree. Sadly, this summer they switched over to all 6:5 blackjack on the main floor. So my last trip (stayed at Aria), instead of walking to MC I walked to Paris and Bally's for a 3:2 game.

I've stayed at MC 6-7 times over the past several years. But after the past 2 trips and all 6:5 BJ, we won't stay there for upcoming trips. Service issues, grumpy dealers, bad gaming conditions...time to vote with our feet and wallet.

Not to change the subject, but I stayed in a tower room at Luxor in June and was pleasantly surprised. I have been in the Pyramid rooms before and they sucked though

I spent a couple nights in the Hotel 32 part of MC in October.Stayed in a Loft Suite and it was really nice.Comparable to a Bellagio Suite or Aria Suite in SS.
Unfortunately the similarity ended in the casino.
I played only dice and it seemed like the the dealers were not happy.Specifically the crew around 11pm was grumpy at more than one table.
I was the only one tipping and playing large by MC standards.
Unappreciative of tokes and felt like the pit was sweating the action which seemed weird for an MGM property.

Stayed at Monte Carlo last year. Decided after that trip that it was our last stay there. Room was clean, but very dated and worn. Noticed that the Monte Carlo Café reduced their hours also. Seems like they are cutting corners on just about everything at MC. We stayed at Aria twice this year and loved it. I think that will be our home base for a while.

Likewise! I stayed in a tower room last October and it was really nice! The room was clean with a good shower and had a really strong, fast wifi signal.

The only drawback for some people might be the hike to the casino but I'd stay there again.

You could ask at check-in. Honestly I've stayed at Monte Carlo multiple times on my budget trips and I don't really have an issue with it, but I also don't spend a ton of time in the room. It is dated, but that is reflected in the price.

I think it is a separate reservation system.
IMO the upgrade price would be high.
Check online to see the price difference

I have always had a good time at Monte Carlo. Low key fun place with nice rooms. Food options are not great but the PUB is awesome. I guess I am not picky because I stay in 50+ hotels a year and most are Hampton Inns or Hiltons so Monte Carlo is nice. Never understood the fascination with the room anyways...Do you really spend a lot of time in the room in Vegas?
