Does one's play determine whether you qualify for late check out?

Hi everyone,

This question has been nagging for the last few months. Back in August, we stayed at the Bellagio on an offer of 3 nights comped Salon suite, f&b, and f/p.

Typically, we 've had no problems requesting late checkout on the morning of departure. On this trip, when I called in the request , the gal put me on hold to check, and came back on the phone informing me that unfortunately, I "did not qualify" for late check out. I was always under the impression that they review vacancy rate to determine whether you can receive late check out, but the choice of words this gal used led me to believe that it is based on your play.

I know that my August trip was a busy one, and my play during this august trip was not typical of my norm, but it was still respectable.

Does anyone know if your play level determines your ability to receive late check out, or am I just reading too much into it?

 

It depends on how late you want to check out. If you ask to check out at noon or so, they generally don't care. If you want to check out at 5-6 pm for instance, your play will matter if you call the front desk.

Your host (if you have one) or a host on duty can help you. Just stop by and ask them.

I was asking for 1:00 check out in this case. I have hosts at Aria and MB, but not the Bellagio. I was just taken aback by her response. I will know to check with a host next time .

 

That's also my experience. If you played(lost!) more, you have no problem late check out

 

Think it also depends on the day and occupancy of the hotel.

 

"Did not qualify" could mean anything really. Granted if you're a known big player you probably aren't going to be denied.

Late check out is like early check in, it's no skin off their ass to let you do it. They wanted to clear the room out for whatever reason and "Did not qualify" is the phrase the clerk chose to use, and it ends up sounding like an insult. Seems to me like "We need the room" would be a better choice in any situation.

 

In my experience, the only way to get a late checkout at a Vegas hotel/casino is through a host.

 

In AC and Vegas, the only times I was able to get a 4PM late c/o was by going to my host or a host-on-duty OR by booking my paid reservations through AMEX FHR. The downside with AMEX FHR is that the casino cannot comp the room, even if you were to put a lot of play in.

 

My guess and some experience is that many factors come into play.

Current bookings - are they short of rooms and need them turned over NOW because people are standing at front desk trying to check in.
Current mood of the clerk and supervisor
Level of Play/Tier. It is a perk for higher levels, but they can still be told to get out.

The clerk used poor wording. It should have been more like "sorry, we are unable to accomodate you today" or something along those lines.

Of course, we do not know how late you were asking for. 4pm will give a widely different answer than noon.

 

Yes. The front desk just looks at what's flagged in your res.

You need to talk to your host before the trip to flag your room as late checkout.

They always just ask me what time I want to leave.

 

With Grazie (Venetian and Palazzo) if you are platinum level no need to go through your host VIP services will give you until 6pm to check out. If you are gold with Grazie I think it's a firm noon check out unless a host intervenes for you.

Cosmopolitan will usually always give one hour later for a noon check out. Anything later seems to take a host.

Wynn, late check out requires a host in my experience.

M-life is a crap shoot unless one is Noir with them or a host intervenes. When I was Noir always could get a late check out of around 3pm if needed. Platinum level I can sometimes get 1pm but also can be told no, again unless a host intervenes.

Evoni, that is very interesting information. I am platinum with m life and diamond with CET. I know at CET, we are given 2:00 pm check outs. At mlife, I only have a host at Aria and MB, so when I stay at the B , it is usually on a marketing offer, so I don't have a host to trigger the late checkout.

I have never spread my wings over to V/P, but sounds like they treat their top players pretty well. Really good to know. - btw Evoni, looove reading your blog. - keep it up

 

last time I stayed at the MGM I called and requested late check out and was told noon. before the front desk hung up, they caught that I was a casino guest and informed me they would check with life.2 minutes later I had a 6pm checkout.

 

I had a similar experience. I didn't have a host at the time at Aria, but I asked the front desk the night before I was checking out to see if I could get a late check out around 1 or 2. Without asking my name or room number the clerk immediately said she could do 12 for free, but that anything later would be a $30 or so late check out charge. But then she looked up my room and typed on the computer a bit, I assume seeing my play, or tier level, or that I was booked on a casino offer and said she could do 2 for no charge.

 

My guess is that it was just a poor choice of words by the front desk agent. I always ask for late checkout, and have only been denied once; Mind you, it depends on a number of factors, such as hotel occupancy, and what kind of mood the desk agent is in. Typically I only ask for 1 or 2pm, but have been offered as late as 6pm (which was great, as I had a 9pm flight that particular day).

It never hurts to ask, though!
