I remember reading the thread and considering the bet. Sorry for the loss.

There was also another thread about someone claiming Oregon wouldn't have 11 wins this year. Where did that go?

I don't bet much on sports, so I admit I am confused by the ticket. To me it looks like you bet they would have under 8 losses. Could someone explain??

I agree your boldness to put the bet on the board is commendable.

It sure is easy for us to jump on a bet after the games are played. It takes guts to put it out before the games.

Ducks are up on Arizona in the third quarter 44-7, coming up on their twelfth win.

I actually thought they would be 1-5 after 6 games and deservedly so what with ownership of the Jer. I am VERY sorry you lost as that means they won.....damnit....we will never get rid of the Jones' if they continue this every 5 or 6 years. I still take the under on play-off wins of 1.5.....they are still very Prima-donna....

Ok, so what does the "under 8 games proposition" mean? Is that under 8 wins or under 8 losses? I think I have made about 5 sports bets in my life, all on the winner of the Stanley Cup, so I don't understand much of the lingo, sorry. But I have always wanted to get into it more, hence my inquiries. Sorry for being ignorant.

The advantage of prop bets is that you have a rooting interest over an entire season. So $1000 for 16 games is only $62.5 / game which is no big deal.

    Better luck next time.

Sorry the troll persuaded you into a loser.

I'm still on Packers SB 13 to 1, Broncos under 12.5 wins, and Vikings over 6. We'll see how the season shakes out. All three could still be winners and all three could still be losers.

Under 8 games means that the team will win less than 8 games. If they win 8 games (for bets in Vegas and most gambling establishments), it's a push, and you get your bet money back. You win if the team wins 7 games or less.

If you bet over 8 games, you win if the team wins over 8 games. If they win 8 games, it's a push. The number of game wins is set by gambling establishments, and may adjust over time, but you are set at that number once you make your wager. The payoff is a little less than even money and is considered the house vig or advantage.

Nice call on these. The pats looks tough but so do Seattle and Packers.

    Sorry about your loss, PT.

I actually couldn't understand why that was a smart and winning bet at the time.

The Cowboys had a historically bad defense last year and still managed 8 wins. The offense got better and the defense got much healthier/better this season.

I'm a Cowboys fan though. So, it's hard for me to see them losing more than 8 games this season (which they've managed to do for the last three seasons).

I think the strength of their opponents was the big factor. For example, the win over Seattle at Seattle was a shocker. Clearly this was the consensus at the time, since the line was -350 for under 8 wins.
But I admit the Cowboys are much better than I had thought.
