Comped room at Planet Ho, never stayed...?

I'm CET Platinum, and I usually get comped at the Harrah's/Bally's/Flamingo triumvirate. But from Dec. 18-21, I'll be staying at Planet Hollywood for the first time. Room was comped, and I did eStandby for $30 a night for a Resort Room (560 sq. ft. instead of 450).

I've spent some time in the casino, but I've never actually stayed. Can anyone give me a basic rundown on rooms? Other intel regarding the property is welcome also. Thanks in advance.

 

I've always loved PH....I'm not in the room very much so by my standards its always been clean, quiet and the beds have been comfortable. I did notice over the past few trips the rooms are feeling kind of warn but that said I have still stayed in worse. Is it Caesar's or one of the higher end hotels...no...but for a free comp...you definitely can't complain.

 

A few general highlights from someone who's stayed there about 100 times:

- There are two towers - the North and the South. I'm directionally changed and for the life of me can't keep them straight.

- I find it a difficult casino to find our way around as it seems to be a big circle.

- Earl of Sandwich is a MUST try for lunch or breakfast. I'd argue it's the best $6 sandwich in Vegas.

- There isn't security at the elevators like a lot of other casinos.

- Each room has a movie theme, including memorabilia from said movie. Sometimes it's cool, other times......not so much.

- I find the rooms fine, but they're a bit dated compared to other hotels.

- A great place to meet up with folks to find them is the Heart Bar, which is located in the center of the casino.

- From a gaming perspective, pretty standard stuff. If you play VP, the paytables are just so so.

- PH seems to cater to a slightly younger crowd, so be forewarned that you might feel old if you're above 35 ish.

- There's no true nightclub so at least you don't have to worry about extremely late club noise.

- It's connected to a mall, which has a couple of ABC stores in it to grab your food and beverage supplies.

We have stayed there twice. Once in each tower. In the South tower we hated the room, it was dark and very run down but we LOVED the casino so gave it another try last April in the North tower and really liked the room this time and we had probably the best view of the Bellagio fountains that we've had anywhere.

The casino is really fun with lots of slots to choose from. It can be confusing but doesn't take too long to find your way around. I'll second the suggestion of Earl of Sandwich, they are amazing!!

Also in the mall is a sports bar named Blondies which is a lot of fun, especially for beer pong and they have a good, really cheap breakfast special.

 

I stayed at PHO in August and again 10 days ago comped for 5 nights. I am not Platinum, only Gold. But when i check into most hotels comped, i only ask that i have a high room floor. I never needed to use the $20 trick because as a Gold player my expectations were minimal. Both times the clerk fulfilled my wishes. I stayed in the South Tower in August on the 35th floor, and in November i stayed in the North Tower on the 36th floor. Couldn't be happier.
Never stayed in the Resort Room. But the hotel staff at PHO was wonderful. There was never an issue i found at PHO, including years ago when it was Aladdin.
PHO and Paris is my primary casino to gamble at. I don't play tables, just machines. The CW's were prompt and friendly. I made sure i tipped them extra, just like the housekeepers.

When i go next time in the Spring, PHO will probably not be comped, will maybe stay at Harrah's, but I will look forward to spending most of my time at Aladdin/PHO.

The Resort rooms are in the wings of the hotel that shoot out from the main floors and are on the lower floors.

The Resort rooms are larger then the Hollywood Hip rooms. I do not care for them as they have no closet and the TV is on the side wall. My neck always seems to hurt while watching from bed. Other than that they are nice.

I don’t think they will be worth the $30 per night.

You can always try the $20 trick at check-in for a Resort room or even a Resort Vista. They are located at the end of the hall of Resort rooms and are considered the mini suites.

 

If you opt for a Resort Vista room, I prefer the North tower. The Resort vista rooms are at the end of the hall. In the north tower the resort vista rooms end with either 79 or 80. The 80 rooms are bigger with more windows and face Paris and the Bellagio fountains. I like the restaurants at PH. I'm a fan of Koi and Striphouse. I always hit PF Changs (good for happy hour) and Burgr when I'm there.

 

I can understand your perspective on this, but having me and one friend in the room always makes me value the extra 110 square feet. I figured if I could lock that in for $100 total for the weekend, including hotel tax, it'd be more space for the two of us. I may check in and try my usual line: "The last time I stayed here, I had an AMAZING view! My friend has never been to Vegas before and he'd love to see the Strip in all its glory. Any chance we can make that happen?" (i.e., this is my attempt at the Resort Vista room.)

 

I stay at PH a lot, and I've seen many of the rooms. Their regular rooms are small and have one small window. So I consider their resort room as average-sized. The resort vista room as mentioned has larger bathrooms (window next to the tub) and have good views due to them being at the end of the building which juts out. And the room windows are floor to ceiling.

 

If you are going with a friend and require 2 beds, the Resort Vista rooms only have 1 king bed. You can get a resort room with 2 beds. There are no closets. There is a large armoire with a TV. It's an odd configuration since the armoire is beside the beds. The Strip Suite only have a king bed as well.

 

The Resort rooms also have double sinks in the bathrooms which is nice when traveling with the wife. I prefer the North Tower and the layout is just a big circle. It is my wife's favorite casino to stay and play at because of the music and atmosphere.

I love the old touches of the Aladdin in the Hollywood Hip rooms, like the old faucet handles.

 

I have become a big fan of Planet Hollywood. I especially enjoy playing blackjack there. The ladies dealing are always fun and help to ease the pain of losing money. The rooms are just ok. They definitely could use an upgrade, but its a fun place to stay.
