I plan on going to March Madness 2015 for 5 nights. Currently I have an offer (10/1-12/31) from the Plaza for 3 nights as long as I earn 200 points per day. I am hoping this will be the same offer for my dates for March 2015. Last year the Plaza comped all 5 nights, but I guess I didn't play enough to get it comped this year. So assuming I get the 3 nights at the Plaza, I need 2 more nights somewhere downtown.

So I am looking at the MSS, Cal or Fremont. I guess my November and December Cal offers are only a "tease" to get me to come back since I haven't played with them since March Madness 2013. I probably won't have any free room offers when the March offers come out. So I was thinking about booking a room and asking a host to see if it can be comped at the end of the trip. But I have a few questions though:

    1) How many points are earned for VP at MSS, Cal or Fremont? I know at the Plaza it is $3 for 1 point.

    2) How much does one need to cycle through VP machines to earn a comped room at one of the Downtown Boyd properties? I'm looking to stay 2 nights.

    3) In another thread most ranked the MSS as the best Boyd rooms downtown followed by Cal and then the Fremont. Does it matter which property I stay at? Is it easier to earn a comped room at the Fremont than MSS?

    4) If I stay at the Cal, but do all my gambling at the Boars Head at the MSS, will those points "count" when I speak to a Cal host at the end of the trip to get my room comped? Or do I need to play where I stay?

    5) Should I just speak to Boyd host and see what they can offer and what I need to do? Does anyone have a contact?

    6) I'm leaning towards booking the Cal because of the fridge. Do they have safes at the Cal? MSS rooms have safes. But no fridge.

    Thanks in advance.

    1. $1 for a point. Or $3 for a point on the really good VP.
    2. It varies but $2-3K of action should be enough for a night
    3. It might do. Not really sure.
    4. Yes, but make sure you mention to the host you played at other properties
    5. MSS hosts are Brenda, Ipo and Gloria. Contacts are on the vpfree website
    6. Not sure but I would imagine yes

All MSS rooms have a fridge.

The Cal have wall safes. They only have one key so if you lose it there will be a charge to open the safe. It isn't very large (maybe 14" x 10" x 3" but don't quote me on that, I'm relying on memory), maybe enough to hold a small laptop, or small point and shoot camera but big enough to hold your cash.

Confirmed that MSS rooms also have a fridge.

Not sure about the VP action required to be comped, I thought it would be more like 5k a day but I don't get comps very often so can't confirm what is needed to generate comps.

I apologize for seeming to contradict what's been said here, but if you pay for a room at MSS (rather than coming in on a mailed offer or host up-front comp), it takes MUCH more than $2-3K of coin-in to get that room night comped off. I attempted this, and I was denied by Brenda after somewhere around $9-$10K coin in. YMMV of course, but I'm just sharing my experience.

$2-3K coin-in per day will get you low-level mailers, usually with a couple of comp weekday nights.

If you want a host to comp a night after the fact you're going to need at least 5k a day. I did 15k over 3 days one time on a 3 night stay (2 were comped, one night was casino rate). The host wouldn't remove the charge for the third night. 2-3k during a day would almost certainly be good for a future marketing offer though.

I would email the host in advance, telling her what you intend to play (coin in wise) and see if she can extend a comp stay...
Like others have said, AFTER the fact, is near impossible...
However, $5k coin in should get some good offers rolling in...

After the fact has all to do with your attitude. Tables. specifically.

Been compd all days after play under the reported limits/avg.

You act right at the tables; you get respect. IMHO. YMMV,

Thanks everyone for the info. According to the BConnected website, the MSS fridges are available for medical purposes. But it sounds like they are standard in the rooms now.

Anyway I finally got around calling the Cal and they transferred me to Marketing. They were able to comp me 2 nights in March. So I will give them most of my play there and at the MSS (Boar's Head) so I get offers in the future. Does anyone know how much I need for future offers?

The last 3 nights will be focused at the Plaza, so I can keep getting those in the future.
