    Hi guys,

Headed back to 'the city' on Thursday and I currently have $400+ in comps from MLife. I'd like to treat my friend to a dinner at one of the properties and was hoping to use the comp for this. Have you used your comps at their restaurants before and are there restrictions? Certain restaurants excluded? And if I can do this, do I obtain something prior to dining or give them my players card and ask them to take it off at the restaurant?
Sorry for my ignorance in this, I mainly use comps elsewhere.
Here's the other big question: What restaurant would you select? I don't have to use all of it, mind you.
And finally, will my comps roll over to 2015?

Thanks for any and all help!
    Liz

Is this "$400 in comps" your express comps or part of an offer when you booked?

    Welcome aboard.

Mlife probably has 50 or more restaurants to select from. My choices often are geared towards where we are staying. Dealing with a long walk, taxies, etc. can damper the evening. So, without knowing where you are staying, it would be hard to say.

Also, not sure if you like really fancy, somewhat fancy or what?
    Like chinese, italian,gourmet,steakhouse?

At to comps, not sure what kind of comps you are talking about. Mlife Express Comps, Facebook game, Offer for this trip, etc.

As to comps rolling over to 2015 - again, not sure which ones you are talking about. If express comps, yes. If comp offers - they all have specific dates.

I think part of the problem people are having with your post is that people that have a large amount of comps usually have a history at mlife properties which means they'd be familiar with some of the restaurants already. Could be you're from Detroit, Tunica, Gold Strike, etc though. But, then you should least be familiar with the comp system. There are different types of comps... so it's hard to tell what you have.

If you have a "resort credit" comp, check with the mlife desk or your host to see if you can use the comp at other properties. Some say yes, some say no.

Simply charge the meal to your room. They'll take it off when you check out. If you have a problem with it, you have to talk to the mlife desk or your host. Same for Express Comps.

Bellagio and Aria have excellent restaurants. You probably can't go wrong by choosing one.

    Sorry,
I should have given more details. I will not be staying at an MLife property. I'm diamond with TR, Platinum with Cosmo, and gold with V/P but this year I've made a conscious effort to start a relationship with Mlife properties, mainly from a 3 day stay at the Beau in Biloxi that netted 5 w-2s. Unfortunately, still a VERY losing trip. Anyway, I believe they are express comps. This trip, we will be spending 1 night at SLS and 3 at Palazzo. We will probably spa at Caesars so I was thinking to use some of this at one of the restaurants. My favorite meals on our September trip were at the SLS Steakhouse and Comme Ca and will be doing both of those again this trip. I don't really want mexican (from Texas, no contest) an d I don't want something too high end (like that special place at MGM) as I don't want to spend it all on one meal, and we're not taking super dressy clothes. Something like French, Italian or tapas?
So do you get the comp in advance or do you just get your server to use your points? And is that the procedure at each restaurant?
Thanks for trying to help me!
    Liz

Just give em your Mlife card and they will use your express comps, use it like they would your credit card. I would confirm that you can do that with the waiter or the hostess though. Or I think you can go to the Mlife desk and get a voucher. But the point of express comps is to "comp yourself".

The only exclusion would be restaurants not owned by MGM. Nearly anything you'd find in a casino should be an Mlife place. The host stands all have "Mlife accepted here" signs on them.

Tapas, Julian Serrano at Aria, delicious!

Express Comps are used at your descretion. I think as long as you earn at least a point in a year they stay active. I've never had a problem using them at The Pub at Monte Carlo but it doesn't hurt to double check with the hostess stand to make sure you can use them. Food courts are a no go as I've tried drunkenly to comp myself a double cheeseburger at 4:30a.

Most of the restaurants at the M-Life hotels will take your M-Life card and as already said will use your express comps for everything but the tip. Once you have decided on a restaurant though you can call up and verify that they do this. I've done it at a lot of restaurants on M-Life properties when I'm not staying with them and so far the only one I had a problem with and couldn't use express comps at has been the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay. However that was over a year and a half and it's possible that even that restaurant takes EC's now.

By the way, Olives at Bellagio is a great restaurant and if you guys eat early when they first open at 5pm you are pretty much guaranteed a table on their patio overlooking the fountains. They do have heaters on it when the weather is chilly.

I agree that Julian Serrano at Aria has great tapas.

Yep... just like others have stated, just give the waiter/waitress your Mlife card and tell them you want to use express comps. They'll deduct it from your balance. Easy-peasy.

Bellagio: Michael Mina (Seafood), Picasso (French), and Le Cirque (French)
Aria: Julian Serrano (Tapas) and Sage (American)

I would personally steer clear of Olives. I just didn't enjoy as much. It's overhyped, in my opinion. Beautiful ambiance and good service, but the food is mediocre (and that's being generous).

Everyone here loves Julian Serrano. I do too. It's pretty awesome.

My two cents on Olives. Food is good, but not to die for - though sometimes it is great. We only eat at the bar or the patio. The dining room is way too busy and noisy. We do bar for daytime stuff, and patio at night. Whenever we bring friends, dinner on the patio is a special event.
