    FYI

I think I'm gonna book my Memorial Day trip flight.

$350 roundtrip nonstop from Detroit. A little pricey, but these days, it's about the cheapest it gets.

Did you check out the Flint airport? I know DTW is closer to AA, but we are flying out this Friday from Flint for $230 per person. Check it out.....

For the dates I'm looking at Flint is $25 cheaper total for the roundtrip.

I'm spoiled, DTW is just a 20 minute drive down I-94 from me. Can't beat that convenience.

No, I understand. We actually live in Oakland County, so Flint is only an hour for us. DTW is about the same, but the traffic and driving close to the City of Detroit is not a highlight for me.

I would not book this early, as airlines have the fish hooks out, hoping to snare $$$ scared travelers.
The days of getting the good deals for early booking are long gone.
Wait awhile. Prices will come down. The best time to buy an airline ticket is about 45 days out.

I totally agree...SW prices are always high on the come out roll .....

SW had a decent sale Thanksgiving Thursday/Monday last year.
Still keep checking the prices and cancel/rebook if the price lowers.

I always book a LV trip for May...
I've found the BEST prices after Christmas and right before Valentine's Day.
After Valentine's Day, the prices kept going up (for a May trip)

I gotta disagree. At least for my nonstops from Detroit to Vegas.

    I check prices almost daily.

$175 each way is about the cheapest it gets anymore for the nonstops.

Whenever they do have a sale, this route is never included for some reason.

But if prices do drop, I'll just cancel and rebook it and use the difference on some future flight...

BUF-LAS are all $250 each way currently - they dropped at one point this summer for fall travel to @ $153 each way if I remember, for a brief time before edging their way up again. I was kicking myself for not making the deal but, still ended up with $175 each way so no real complaints. Still much better than flying out of YYZ! I too expect something over the us thanksgiving weekend to pop up with rates around $150. Perhaps I will book the May trip then.....

DAL to LAS = $208 RT in April 2015. Hard to pass that up!

I agree with the people that say "wait".

Even though you are booking for a "non-discount" weekend, there will be at least 3 or 4 fare sales before then and prices should come down (a little).

I book with points as when you change or cancel they go back into your "bank" and you have a year to use the airport fees......but if the price / point cost drops I just rebook....when using ca$h it is a different strategy.....already booked 11-16 May. Hope it does go down AND if it does I will probably read it on here first and react.....

I rechecked my flights for prices in May from Dallas with points and it was cheaper today by 2800+ and change checking probably weekly but don't expect to see lower fares so pleasantly surprised as you may be that run-on sentences are still formulated.

I booked our April Vegas flights on SWA right away on the early morning of Nov. 10, when the new window opened.
I got our round-trip flights (out of Chicago Midway) for $278 (147 out / 131 back home) per person. Looked good to me.

They dropped the twice daily nonstop flights between Buffalo and LV. Now there is only a single daily nonstop each way. The flight from Buffalo that remains is our usual so no harm there, but they axed the morning nonstop return flight.

    Lame.

I think that is a seasonal change. If you search for a flight in say March, you get two dailies.

This morning, I booked my 22-28 April 2015 trip on Southwest. From BWI-LAS, it was $145/way for $290 total (not including EB).

We get two thanksgivings (unofficially of course) with Big Brother south of us! A nice long weekend in October and then Football Thursday (or golf trip) in November! Not that I am a shopper but, it looks like Black Fridays/Cyber Mondays are fully entrenched in the lexicon up here now.

Enjoy Bugsy's and pray you don't come back to Buffalo and get what I got two weeks ago when I arrived back! Note to self - always keep ice scraper, coat and boots in car because you never know what's waiting for you in Buffalo!

I just re-booked our flights for May and saved a total of 3,384 points.
