Aria is just a much better property overall. Elara is fine as a hotel, but at Aria you have the casino, restaurants, bars, etc. all right at the bottom of the elevator. If you consider Elara as part of Planet Hollywood, Aria still beats it hands-down. And if you gamble at all (I don't know if you do), Elara won't give you the opportunity to earn comps because they're a Hilton, not formally connected to any casino.

The only way I might pick Elara is if you're planning to put a lot of people into the room, because the Elara rooms tend to be bigger and have more sleeping spaces (I think there might even be pull-out sofa beds).

Do you want Hilton points or MGM points? Is a very short walk to restaurants/bars/casino/whatnot a dealbreaker?

Do you mean a standard deluxe king room at Aria? Not a suite?

The standard rooms at Aria aren't that exciting... but I think I would rather be there because of all the amenities. But if you can get a full 1 bedroom suite for the same price, I would be tempted to do that instead... Elara would likely be quieter and no smoking of course.

You can't get 2 beds at Elara.. would that be an issue if you are bringing your adult kids?

I've never stayed at Aria but from everything I've gathered it's basically a hotel put together with slightly-nicer-than-Ikea furniture, masquerading as a luxury hotel. I've seen photos of chipped corners on desks and was not impressed with the overall aesthetic. It all looked very cookie cutter and uninspired. Those are the impressions I've gotten from a lot of research, not actually having stayed in a room. That might not help your situation, but thought I'd chip that in there if it's a close call.

Yeah, its pretty much common knowledge that this is what hotels do to get a AAA five Diamond award rating.

I am still confused... you said parent in other room? Meaning you need bedding?

In any event, which casino group will you be spending most time in? Costs? Comps?

You might want to do some more research, or maybe actually stay there. Your impressions are WAY off.

They do have premium beds, the rooms are a little larger than average, and have all that new-fangled technology. I was fairly disappointed in my room when I stayed there... no TV's in the bathroom, the tub and the shower are together.. but seperate It was awkward, and I didn't have a touchpad for some reason so I couldn't use the technology. Honestly. The rooms at a MGM and Mandalay Bay are just as nice, and always a better deal.

The property though I would say is one of the best in Vegas, incredible restaurant selection, slot selection, amenities, spa.. it's a great place. Honestly, I've stayed in 3/4 of the properties on the strip and to me the 4 and 5 star rooms aren't that different from one another. The difference seems to come in the quality of the amenities and the service...

I'd definitely disagree that Aria and MBay rooms are basically the same.

I have been nothing but impressed with Aria. The bed is the best I've ever slept on in a hotel. The TV/tech/lighting system is unparalleled. I never had issues with it and am not a tech savvy person. The view I had was of the pool and mountains - still awesome. The bathroom was amazing - huge soaking tub with separate shower, and the toilet was in a separate room. Everything was in perfect shape when I stayed last December.

MBay - I stayed here just in October. We were on the top floor of regular rooms. The bed was lumpy and hard. Light bulb out. TV was OK. All furnishings were worn, especially carpet. Bathroom was OK. Again, separate soaking tub and shower, but pressure was less and tub wasn't as nice. Fixtures weren't either. And you could see through cracks in the door into the bathroom. I was happy with the rate I paid, but still - - no where near the quality of Aria.

And this doesn't bring into account the amenities offered outside the rooms.
