Played it for the first time at Mandalay Bay. I thought it was a pretty easy game to pickup and it certainly helps when you have helpful dealers. I'm sure my joy from it came because I kept getting decent double down and split opportunities and won $800 pretty quick before I had to leave.

Funny aside while I was playing. Got a blackjack and on the next hand I received an ace and told the dealer "If you give me two in a row we will get married tonight" . She started laughing and then dealt me a Jack. Next hand, another ace and I told her "Give me this one and then we will have incredible sex tonight". She started laughing harder and blushing. Bam a king comes out and her face turned bright red. Whole table was laughing. The joys of alcohol and winning.

I'm a big fan of free bet as well. I feel like it gives me the biggest potential upside when using my Cosmo one time bet promo chips.

Hah good one. She's not but I had my 'time' with them when I was younger. You're probably one of a very few posters who would know what that means

I played for the first time last week as well and really enjoyed it. I played for probably an hour and didn't get a single blackjack but did get hit by the dreaded 22 on 5 or 6 occasions. I'll definitely seek it out in Vegas next trip.

See, the funny thing about that 22-push?
It doesn't really bug me that much...no more than a "real" push with the dealer does. Pushes happen, so giving the house an auto-push when they get 22? Sure, it helps the house, but it's not nearly as annoying (given the free splits & doubles) as under-paying a blackjack at 6:5.

I've never played FBB in real life (only on MyVegas), but I'm inclined to agree with you. My mantra is "a push is a win", because you still have your money, so I'm totally fine with that. Can't wait to play the real thing on my next trip!

Didn't love this, but only played about an hour with dozens of 22 beats. Was a fan of Double Attack Blackjack at Ballys.

What are the Cosmo minimums and is it 3:2? I've got some promo chips coming and debating when or how to use them.

Minimums are $25 right now. I think I have seen it go as low as $15. Yes, blackjack pays 3:2.

Good enough for me. A friend is coming with me for the super bowl and is itching to try free bet bj. I've never played it

That feeling is why it's a genius rule by Geoff Hall. Those pushes still happen enough to gain the house 6.91%. But the free split/doubles gain the player about 6.6%, leading to about a 1% house edge game.

And the 6/5 "only" adds about 1.5% to the house in a BJ game. But I agree with topcard on the perception of it. The 6/5 rule seems like they are cheating me. The Push 22 is clearly stated and "part of the game" to me.

I call 3 card poker, and Let it Ride, table slot machines. Meaning that they have a high house edge and you know you are going to lose unless you hit a jackpot.
Free Bet has sort of that feel to me, but without the risk. Not ever a huge "jackpot" payoff, but the chance for a goodly amount. I have had seven bets on the table before, but still only risking one bet of my money.

Just came back from Cosmo (Table minimums were $15) and burned my one time use promo chips. I started with $1775 and ended up with:
    Hand 1 - $275 lose
    Hand 2 - $500 natural blackjack - Win $750
Hand 3 - $500 pair of Aces, free split, dealer busts - Win $1000
    Hand 4 - $500 lose
    Total: $1750

Nearly a 100% conversion on one time use promo chips is a nice win. In my opinion, there is no better way to use them. Multi-use chips are a different story though.

That is really good for one time use promo. Good job pleepleus.

You have better luck then me at the Free bet at Cosmopolitan.
