I am a regular visitor to Las Vegas. This year I will have made 12 trips, each trip from one night to 3 nights.

I like to get my action out of the way at my host casino early so I can go where it is I need to go.

I am a platinum level slot player with mLife. How many points would you estimate that to be? $3=1 point.

    Thanks in advance.

Way too many unanswered questions, one would be is your room comped, how nice of a room, does your host include FB, show tickets? Honestly your host wouldn't keep comping you rooms if you were short playing. They would comp you a room relative to your play level and play for a room at Luxor is a lot different than say Aria Sky suites..

Platinum status comes from Tier Credits, which are earned both by gambling and hotel spend.

If you want to know how much coin-in it takes to reach Platinum based on slot play alone, the answer is $60,000.00 on a non-specialty machine that gives you the full 10 Tier Credits for each $3 coin-in.

I assume you're asking the number of points you need per day to satisfy your RFB. It's 200k tier credits to achieve Platinum... but I assume you already know that.

It's different from casino to casino and I'm not sure there's a cut and dry answer for an amount of points per day perspective. It's really based on theoretical (theo) loss. Your theo is different for each denomination of slots but the points remain the same.

So, while your theoretical loss on a dollar slot machine is less than it is on a penny slot machine, you still get the same amount of points for the same amount of coin-in.

It's just easier to ask your host how much theo they require per day.

Every point well made. I now realize that it was a rather "vague" question.

Typically, I'm just " room comp" guy.

    I guess I will ask my host(s).

Thanks for all of your thoughts.

I have no idea what the question is here. But, many would be glad to help if they knew.

If you only have a basic room just a few thousand coin in per day on slots is plenty.

    The question clarified

The actual question was (or should've been after people pointed out the missing information):

"For a Platinum mLife member, what would be the expected amount of slot play required to "pay off" one night's comp room at Mirage or MGM Grand.".

By "pay off" I mean "maintain comp privileges", by comp room, I mean lodging only, no FB comp.

    Thanks in advance.

Theo of about $500 should do it, so $5000 coin in on penny slots/wheel of fortune/megabucks up to more like $10,000 on traditional reel slots. You would probably get offers with less play on slots but that should be enough to "play up to your offer" and stay in good graces

Yea, but if he made 12 trips this year.. his daily average probably isn't that high, I'm guessing..

You should know what you normally gamble right? Why wouldn't you go with that? That's what they expect from you.

Are you getting comped rooms now? For how many nights? What's your daily gambling bankroll?
To keep it short: probably keep your current level of play and you'll be good to go. Platinum members generally put in enough play to get a room comped (at least if you're not staying in Vegas 4 times a years for at least 10 nights on every trip. That would be too many nights to get comped)

OK we can do a real simple example.

3x the rack rate of the room in theo should do it.

    Room Rate = $100

    Theo required = $300

    Assume a ~10% hold = $3,000 coin-in.

That should be a safe number for a $100 rack rate room.

I don't even think the Excal has a rack room rate as low as $100 though.
