I see a lot of ppl posting on the club scene. Yeah im so lame I wont do much of that. My question is what are some the gems no one "knows" about? As far as the bar scene goes what's a few great places that are less main stream.

The Long Bar at The D can be a lot of fun!

Lots of big-screen TVs with sports, lively music, etc.

Likewise, the smaller bar at the Golden Gate can be in the center of the fun almost every night.

I have been there, once, some years ago. About the most "earthy" place I recall in Las Vegas. They have stuff like bacon martinis (yecch!) and this one very nasty drink where the bartender pretends to squeeze out his wipe-off rag into it. :)

Completely agree with the above posts and will add that Commonwealth's upstairs deck has a great view and really a fun place, early. Commonwealth also has a nice happy hour deal.

Off Strip, Herbs and Rye is a cool vibe mixology joint. Used to not be a big fan of Park on Fremont but had a very nice couple of beers on the patio this August.

Downtown in general has some great hidden gems, but Commonwealth is really good. As mentioned, their upstairs terrace is great on a night out.

Peppermill has an awesome low-key bar, maybe the foundation room or eyecandy at Mandalay Bay.

Have heard some good things about 1923 Bourbon and Burlesque at Mandalay Bay -- it is supposed to be patterned after an old fashioned speak easy. Looks nice and cozy with some Jazz and burlesque. I hope to give it a try on our December trip.

I like Frankies Tiki Room. It's generally a haul though. When I was last in Vegas I read about this bar called Money Plays that sounds good. Looks like it's up the street from the Palms. Again I haven't been but I'm sure one of the other boarders has...

Thanx for posting this info. I've got to try this. I've gone to Bourbon Room at Venetian before and like their 80s music.

Great bar. Been loads of times as a couple of friends work there on and off. If you want a relaxed locals vibe with some tourists thrown in then give it a go for sure.

Money Plays, Stage Door, Downtown Cocktail Room, Frankies Tiki Room, Don't Tell Mama, Doulbe Down Saloon are all great. Center Bar at Hard Rock is good as is Bourbon Room at Venetian. Carnival Court at Harrahs is good. Ones that were not metioned is Dino's a few blocks from Strataspehre and Dispensary Lounge on Tropicana.

Battistas has really gone downhill. Went there a few months ago and was very disappointed. Not what is once was in terms of value and quality. Wont be going back and I would not recommend this place.

Every casino has a cool bar to hang out in, depends on what your looking for really. East of downtown there is a small street of bars that are fun, but gold spike is a fun little place downtown for adult sized kid games.
