I think for me is leaving my hotel room and closing that door for the final time. Just saying 'goodbye' to my home (aka -room) is depressing.

...most Vegas trips for me end with an 8 hour drive home...after several days of doing too much of everything (except sleeping) getting home alive is the one and only goal...

For me, getting on the 15 freeway south to LA is a bummer. And it gets worse when i look in the rear view mirror and the last remnant of The STRAT finally disappears into obscurity.
But, in a couple of weeks i get to do it all over again. Since my stroke a couple of years ago, i'm just thankful i have another opportunity to be in Vegas.
Heck, i'm just thankful to be alive..........LOL.

Oops, didn't mean to give wrong impression. Married, hoping to stay that way, but as they say, not dead yet. That happened about three years ago, go to vegas about three times a year and never miss dropping in to spend time with her.

I hate every sentence with the word "leaving" in it. If only I could hit the Megabucks once.....I would move in a heartbeat :)

Not depressing, but approaching the LV Sign as I am heading toward the car rental facility and see that "Drive Carefully Come Back Soon", I always say (out loud) "See you in three months!"

Both of mine were already mentioned....

The ride back to the airport for me. It's a depressing long ride and that's when I know it's truly over.

Waiting for the plane in the airport is the 2nd. Seeing all the happy excited faces on their way to paradise.....Knowing i'm on my way back to the land of responsibility.

LOL! I've never even noticed all the grumpy people in the airport while we're waiting on the flight back. I'm always half asleep. Ahhh.....Vegas! Excited that I get to make 2 trips this year!

On a related note - when we get off the plane upon arrival, as we're coming up the jet way and first entering the terminal, i'll always say, "that'll be us in 5 days". When we're back at the airport in that state, at the end of the trip, seeing other making the same arriving trip, i'll often tell strangers, "this will be you in five days". :)

For me the saddest and most depressing thing I encounter, and unfortunately this happens every trip, is seeing a supposed parent (and I'm being charitable here) pushing a toddler in a stroller down the strip at 2:00 in the morning.

Leaving isn't so bad because I know I'll be back in a few months and I have something to look forward to.

For me it's not so much leaving the Vegas airport than arriving home to MY airport. As I leave the plane all the passengers are lined up to go to Vegas. You have to run this "gauntlet" of happy, anticipating faces on the way to baggage claim.
(Of course this scenario is reversed at the beginning of the trip!)

Another downer is leaving Vegas knowing there is no trip planned in the near future......

    *
Most trips.......the last full day....I start to feel depressed.
By next morning.........the packing + last look around the room is tough.

Waiting at the airport isn't so bad.........cos I have a few beers !~!........that helps +
    I know when I'm coming back !

The worst part of the trip is writing the check for your markers.

For me it's getting one last look at room before i shut the door, and heading to airport looking at all the people walking and having fun. I always look out plane at take-off thinking my 6-8 months of planning is over so quickly, hoping i will be back soon.

Mine would be the time when you walk back to your car and you see all the happy people talking about what to do today at vegas :(
