First Time Caesar's and Indecisive Questions

A little background: We've primarily stayed at Harrah's during our trips to Vegas. Also have stayed at Bally's, MGM Signature Suites, HRH Suites and the IP (a long time ago for a guys trip).

We really like Center Strip and all it has to offer. While Harrah's Premium or Petite Suite has always been fine for the wife and I, we wanted to try another CET property. In looking around, I was able to get a Augustus Tower Deluxe King Room for around $80/night + resort fee for the time we are planning to go. I thought that was pretty decent for me, so I booked it.

My questions:

- I could get into the Octavius Tower with a basic king room for about $15 more/night. Is that worth it?

- I understand Caesar's is not right on the strip like Harrah's, but is the Augustus Tower the closest?

- Can a lowly Total Rewards Gold Member use the separate valet?

- Is there another property I need to take a look at (renovated rooms at Bally's, The Linq, Cromwell), which may give me a better "value" (understanding that's subjective).

Augustus rooms are closer to everything and little difference between rooms in Octavious. We used to stay a lot at Caesars, and it is beautiful!

However, as we have aged, the huge property and it sits back from the strip, makes for a ton of walking, and we just prefer one smaller and closer to the walkways now.

Still love Caesars though, as long as you can walk a lot, you will like it!

 

I've stayed at Caesars in the Augustus Tower 5 times in the last two years and I have reservation there. I get either comped, but I'd stick with Augustus, not reason to pay extra for Octavius, though it's newer. I would say that August is a little closer to the strip, though as you know Caesars is receded from the strip. I don't know about the Valet. I've stayed at all the CET properties except Rio and I like Caesars best. If you can get the Augustus tower King at that price take it.

 

I wouldn't lay out money upfront for an upgrade. You've got a good room so gamble and see if they will do something at check-in.

Augustus is more close to the strip than some of the rest.

The separate valet is primarily for guests in the Laurel Towers as well as the higher tier card holders.

Depending on what they're offering, you can probably get a better bang for the buck almost everywhere but Caesars will be the most different from what you've done before.

 

I like the Augustus Tower the best. If you get a room that faces the side of the Bellagio fountain, the Augustus Tower is more in-line with the side of the lake whereas the Octavius Tower is farther to the west. The Augustus Tower is to the left of main lobby, the Octavius Tower even farther left of the main lobby. The other towers are to the right of the main lobby and may even be farther away from it than Augustus. In fact I think the Augustus Tower may be closer to "The Strip" than any of the other towers. Caesars is a huge property so walking to different parts of it may take a little time. But it is the flagship resort of the CET properties.

 

I stayed at Caesar's last summer as well as visiting their property each time i go, (including in a couple of weeks). I have no problem walking around Caesar's even though i had a stroke a couple of years ago. No stinkin' near death experience will get in my way to enjoy Vegas.
I only stayed in the Forum rooms, but i know the Augustus rooms are closer to the Strip than Octavius as well as having lake view rooms. There are also numerous short cuts on the property that saves you time. Look at a map of the property, Appian Way will be your new friend.

We have only stayed in the Augustus tower at Caesars but have been in a room in the Octavius tower. I would not spend the extra money to upgrade as I think the Augustus rooms are almost as nice and are actually a little bigger. Plus, their location on the property is better unless it is pool season and you plan on spending a lot of time at the pool.

Yes you can use the Flamingo exit valet and you can check-in at the counter just inside the Flamingo exit as well. Have a great time, I'm sure you'll love it. We'll be in the Augustus tower in 20 days

 

Although this may be less in accommodations than you desire, the Forum Tower has been recently updated. We stayed there in September. It is centrally located and you can walk through the Forum shops and be on the strip quickly. I liked the central location in the casino and the easy access to the floors. You might save a bucket of money in the Forum Tower.

 

Not sure about the valet. Octavius rooms are better but not by much. That walk at the end of a long night of drinking can suck. But when it is pool weather Octavius is closer to the pool so it's then a wash! As for other CET props....they aint beating an Augustus room. Cromwell would liek to think so but the rooms are small and dark albeit nice.

 

Augustus and Octavius make up the laurel collection. Both towers are held to the same standards. Octavius is slightly newer. If you want a strip view you're stuck with Augustus.

 

Thank you all. All good insight. I think we'll be sticking with the Augustus room - maybe see if there is an upgrade within the tower available at check-in - it sounds like we're going to like it!

 

Ugh! I usually stay at Harrah's. I use my rental car when in LV and I like the ease Harrah's provides from room to casino/strip/parking garage. Last trip I stayed in the Octavius Tower. Wow, what a hassle! It is ½ mile to walk to the parking garage if you take the short cut past the Bacchanal Buffet. It is ½ mile to get to the Strip. You're pooped before you even get anywhere!
If you insist on staying here, this is the way to avoid the big walks…
If you're going to the casino just do the walk. If you have a car use the Flamingo valet. If you want to go to the Strip the short cut is to go out the Flamingo valet and walk the short distance to the bridge to the Belagio and take the elevator (not the escalator) up…I think this is quicker than the walk to Caesars casino!

We prefer the Octavius Tower because they beds are far superior to the ones in Augustus (that are now getting kinda old). The rooms in Augustus are a bit larger and you CAN get a nice strip view, but that's become less important to us than a nice bed.

The walk isn't horrible -- you can take the shortcut/back way from Octavius to the casino by going by the Bacchanal Buffet instead of going through the hotel lobby. We just look at the walk as exercise. We're mid 50s and fat, so if we can handle it, almost anyone should be able to.

Always use the Flamingo Valet that's only for the Laurel Collection (Augustus & Octavius). There is also a special check in area to the left as you walk in from Valet, or walk a little further if you're diamond/7 Stars for that registration.

 

I too prefer the Augustus over Octavius mainly because of the larger size of the rooms. Love the Flamingo valet side entrance, hardly ever backed up and very friendly valet personnel. That Laural collection lobby also offers complimentary morning coffee, tea, and pastries. After the first day I found myself getting our coffees there and never used the room Kuerig the rest of the trip. I'd go back there in a minute (if I could) lol

 

Augustus Tower Luxury or tower deluxe?

Also about the exclusive hotel registration? No clue about that. Is it part of the main lobby?

I prefer the Augustus Tower, with a view facing South. The rooms are quite spacious with a fantastic washroom.
