I don't see that surviving. Back in our younger days we would get a room there for $20 just to have a place to shower and nap on the day of our red-eye flight home. We would have the room for less than 8 hours.

Now I've looked at the pics, too funny they call it a Crash Pad. That's what we used it for.

Hope springs eternal. $140 at the gold spike...for the same rooms they were selling for 20-40$ a year or so back, that's quite a plan.

    Wow. Let's analyze this:

    1. NO CASINO.
    2. Somewhat sketchy location on the very edge of the "resort district".
    3. Outrageously high room rates + an outrageous resort fee for a place that is nothing more than a renovated motel!!

So...when all of these factors are added up, why in the F**K would anybody want to stay there???

Maybe at a flat rate of $15 - $20 per night for bargain seekers, okay. But exactly who do they think is going to pay $150-$200 per night to stay in a casino-less motel with new furniture???

Reality is going to catch up with those idiots quickly...especially after their first month of empty rooms. I can't believe that anyone would be stupid enough to think that this hair-brained plan will fly.

Maybe they still intend to use the rooms primarily for stays related to Zappos personnel. I have no idea, but maybe there's some sort of tax break or write off (quicker depreciation?) they can take by claiming it's a motel property even though it really isn't. They might not really care if they get any takers or not.

It's really just another example of idiots from out of town that dont understand that in DOWNTOWN vegas, you wont be able to charge $160 for a "boutique" hotel. Am I wrong, but aren't boutique hotels for people that might actually want to spend time in their rooms? The only people doing that downtown are the poor losers that blew their wad in the casinos and are now drinking their bad luck away.

This would be brilliant marketing. Is there a LGBT club in neonopolis? Partner with a small chapel and set up a small banquet facility on site and it would be a great facility targeted at gay marriage.

I stayed at the Spike when they last remodeled for $7.00.I had a coupon. The room wasn't too bad.I do miss their blackjack pit-good rules, sweet dealers, and a lot of fun with low minimums to boot. The place will obviously never be the same.

No, unfortunately Drink and Drag closed, and Krave never really opened. Hopefully someone else will be able to do something with that cursed space.

Any idea where you saw this? I have looked and looked and cannot find anything except old news where it sold to Siegel and then Hseih.

They are selling rooms on the OTA's now. Prices midweek are down around $79. Resort fee is showing as $1.99, although I wouldn't count on being charged that when you get there. I use Hotwire a lot for downtown hotels, and this one is going to be difficult to distinguish from the flop houses farther down Fremont, simply because it doesn't have a casino. You can pick any of the ones with a casino, and the worst you are going to get is El Cortez or Golden Gate.

Actually the casino in Jean is called Gold STRIKE.

As for the Spike reopening their rooms, there is a lot we can say about this but probably best to let it speak for itself.
