I've been playing around with this idea I want to try with craps. I'll try and give you my idea.

$25 pass line with $75 odds.

    Place 4 for $10
    Place 5 for $15
    Place 6 for $25
    Place 8 for $25
    Place 9 for $15
    Place 10 for $10

Whatever number is point I wouldn't place.

So my idea is to take and press on each number every other time. I have been playing around
With this on the iPad craps app. I'll start with a grand and only once have I busted. I normally end up going for quite a while around even or up 3-4 grand. I know that's only a game though. I'm guessing In a real live game if I bought in for a grand it could go pretty fast if I got on a cold table.

Thanks for the help and other ideas. I have not spent much time rolling bones in the last couple of years so I'm excited to give me another try.

Taking full odds is the best bet on the table. If you start with a bankroll of $1000, 4 PSOs would kill you in 10 minutes.

I didn't post this as a system to try and get anyone else to try. I was simply looking for your opinions on the idea of alternating takes and pressing placed numbers. If it's a stupid idea let me know. Like I said I avera had good luck with it on the iPad. But, I'm not stupid enough to be blind by my luck on a iPad app. If anyone else has tried something similar and had luck I'd like to hear about that also.

But thanks for the sarcasm though.

Personally, I would rather just bet $30 on the don't and then lay $180 odds. If you enjoy your method, give it a shot. You're not changing the house edge. On average, a shooter rolls six times before sevening out. You're going to need every shooter to be better than average to make anything. And if you have any quick PSO, then you're really going to need one or more shooters to go on a long run to make up for the PSO loss.

Sounds like you're getting a 300-400% return on most of your simulations. That can probably be chalked up to small sample size. But I wouldn't let those few simulations make you believe you've developed a great system.

A place bet of $25 on 6 and 8 wouldn't get you a correct payout when you hit that number. Place bets on 6 and 8 pay 7 to 6 so it's better to bet $24 or $30 when you place bet 6 and 8.

Other than that, go for it. If I could buy-in for a thousand I might try it. But scout the table first. Like the other posters said a couple of PSO's and you're gonna be busted in a short while.

Good Luck! Let us know how it went. (But scout that table first!)

Pressing every other time is not a bad strategy because you will be taking money off the table during a winning streak.
Another way to do it is to press with about half the winnings each time.
For example, 60 on the eight wins 70, so press with 30, keep 40. Next eight wins you 105, so press 60 and keep 45. Etc.

For me, I like to go smaller, with less initial exposure.
Here is my 'standard' craps play (you can obviously up the starting bets to whatever you're comfortable with):
$5 line, with $15 behind it.
    $12 6 & 8.
If the point is a 6 or 8, bet the 5 instead for $10.
    Initial bet: $44 (or $42).
First win on any place bet - 'same bet'.
Second win on any number - press evenly.
    Third win on any number - add missing number(s) (5 and/or 9 for $10 each...never a 4 or 10)
Next two wins on any number - 'same bet'
Next win - press all bets evenly, even if it cost a few $$.
Same bet for the next 4 hits.
If 7 still hasn't come after those 4 hits, I take everything down (except passline odds).

    So - I risk $44.
Let's say I hit one of my place bets 5 total times before the 7.
    1. +$14
    2.+$2 (6 & 8 now at $18)
    3. +$1 (add $10 5 & 9)
    4. +$21 on the 6 or 8..+$12 on the 5 or 9.
    5. Same as #4.
    6. 7 out.
Result: +$15 (with two 6/8 hits for step 4 & 5) or a loss of up to $3
Point is that your cost exposure is minimal.

As for playing it out entirely? Assuming the point is 5, the net result would be:
    1. +$14
    2. +$2
    3. +$6 (add a $15 9)
    4. +$21 or +$18
    5. +$21 or +$18
    6. Pressing the 6, 8 & 9 to $30 each - minus $21 or $18.
    7. thru 10. (assume three 6/8s and one 9 hit) - +$105 and +$36.
Take all bets down except for the line: In for $20 & up $271.

If the 5-point hits before the 7, add that win to the $291. If the 7 hits before the 5, you won $251.
Basically, you win 5 to 6 times your money risked anytime you hit a place bet 10 times during a roll.

    $50 to win $300? 6 to 1.

How often has that happened for me in 25 years?
Only about a dozen times, but then - I don't play that often... those dozen 10-hit wins are out of about 100 sessions, so not horrible...just not great.

Take that for what it is - the betting strategy from a guy who is, overall, down playing craps.

But it remains the most fun of any game offered by any casino anywhere!
You know the saying - "Most fun you can have in Vegas? Playing craps and winning. Second most fun? Playing craps and losing."

Thanks for the help. I remember now about betting the odd amounts on 6,8 for the payoff. I figure ide be waiging about $190 after the cme out roll. So yes if I had 5 people in a row PSO I'd be wiped out. It's been about 3 years I think since I played craps so I can't remember how easy it would be for that to happen.

I do like the idea of taking half the winning each time. As for UK's don't with odds, I know that's probably the smartest play. But, I feel so dirty thinking about it. Kinda like kissing you cousin, even if she's smoking hot. But hey my motto is don't dis it tell you've tried it.

    LOL!
From now on when I'm playing the Don't side, I'm going tell the shooter "Come on, talk dirty to me!" [emoji104]

I wanted and appreciate you feedback. I've never played the dark side. But thinking of giving it a try now.

Cool. Hope you know I was just teasing. Like I said, if you are happy and comfortable with your wagering, then do it! I have a good buddy whose craps betting system is so terrible, I dubbed it the albatross. But he was happy playing it (at least until he lost a ton of money playing it).

I have written on VMB in the past about my preference for playing darkside. You can find plenty of posts from many members about the positives and negatives of playing the don't.

    Golfnut -

I play like you. When I first started it was buying the 4 for $25 each, $25 on the 5 and 9, and $30 on the 6 and 8, minus the point. $130 or $135 across is the bet.

The trouble is that you will lose more often than you win. When you do win - with a hot roller - you will win a lot. I now start with $550 across usually, and each trip, there are a couple of shooters that have rolled so long that the place bets get to the $400-500 range each (I increase by about $50 each hit). Those shooters can make you thousands.

The trouble is - the law of averages says you will seven out before you even break even - if you are pressing your bets - most of the time. It is kind of depressing getting wiped out within a half hour of starting.

Can you tell us what exactly the Albatross system was?

Wow, its been four or five years since my friend tried it, so I don't remember all the details. It was some sort of do/don't system that included placing certain numbers depending on the initial point and come bets. Basically, he finally realized that when he lost using his system, he lost big, and there was no easy way to recover the losses. It was a hedge system, but that meant when he won, the wins were small. So if he lost big, he could basically never recover. I called it the "albatross" because it could never get off the ground.

Craps is a very good game for those that make the best bets -- on the Strip Line and Full (3x4x5x) Odds = 0.37% HA, or the slightly better equivalent bets on the Dark Side. Craps offers the best odds in the casino unless you are a high limit Basic Strategy BJ player or a BJ card counter at selected games (but if you are a card counter you won't be playing for long).

I don't understand the prevalence of Strip dice players that take a 0.37% game and then flood the table with Place Bets at 1.52% to 4.0% HA, or worse, the sucker bets in the middle, thus making the game not so good for the player.

To the OP, any strategy that involves Place Bets costs you significant EV.

I do it because I like the much faster action of the other bets compared to the straight Pass/Don't line bets.
