    My Trip Report

This was a very very quick trip to Macau but not because that is what I wanted it is just what happened. I had to come to Hong Kong to get a visa to go back to work in mainland China. Which poses a large number of problems the first and main one being that I have a broken foot that I can't put any weight on so I use a scooter/knee walker to get around. More on that later... What does every degenerate gambler think of as soon as they get to Hong Kong and they have not been to a casino in over 9 months... When does the boat leave?

I went to the hotel and got settled and it was off to the ferry terminal by Central Station which ment I had to taxi around the protests here in Hong Kong. Made it to the ferry terminal bought the next ticket on turbo jet out of the city! With the minor leg problem I had to go through a special entrence and down a super secret elevator past see a hidden customs person it was all fun. But I was the first one on and first off of the boat!

After arival in Macau I headed to the taxi line it was quite expensive to take a cab to the Venetian but I knew from my last trip I couldn't get on the bus.

My budget was a little less than 6000-10000 HKD close to 1000 -1400ish USD not a lot but I wasn't paid last month and might have to have surgery on my foot. This would have gotten me about 6 hands of mini-bac but I am not a cards person it was off to the slots.

First game mega bucks, put in the 500 dollar bill well that was okay it lasted a while but ran out put in the next one finally a bonus! Three spins later the mini progressive cash out a 2500 HKD ticket and move on. Next machine was something about a whale and had card symbols first spin at 500 credits .20 each about 13$ us bonus, cash out having no idea what I just hit but I don't think its much... Look at the ticket it was 10,900 HKD! I am going home with money ( I always say that it never happens) But I put it away and decide I am only going to play with cash...

Every one here was very nice had great drink service, and I helped some guy out by playing on his card... I figure it doesnt matter as I will never get to Macau enough to get any benefits or level up on the card that I have you need 888 points and they add up very slowly...

Blow through the 5000 that I have left with a few good hits but nothing great... I put in the 10000 ticket... I wasn't going to do that... Playing the tiki torches game at 100 HKD each pull... Not getting anything.... Ticket down to 4000 I decide three more pulls and I am going back to hong kong.... 1...2...3...Bonus!!! Ahh that is nice I usually rush the bonus and don't let count up but I decide to just watch.... and watch and watch.... cash out my ticket 20,000 HKD... about 3000 US but no hand pays gambling is money earned no taxes!

Keep playing get another few good hits get a second ticket for 12000 decide to go to the window to cash them having worked at a casino I don't trust the quicket machines... I worked in the cage I know they don't always work and no one wants to try to sit and count that much cash infront of a machine so the camera can verify how much you got out... I like the cameras in the cage just fine....

Play this moose game I think I put back in about another 10000 before I got a good hit.... Get the bonus it is one that adds 4 wilds to the last 4 rows each spin, retrigger... the last 5 spins will add 4 mooses to the first row... first 10 spins nothing... one spin alll but 4 squares either a moose or wild... cash out another 18000 and decide that was enough fun for one casino I want to see something else I am up 30000 at this point.... I want to go to the Wynn!

Head out to the taxi line, they let me cut as I have this walking issue! Go to the Wynn.. roll to the door.... "You can't come in" says the security person... I am standing there with my 36000 HKD buring a hole in my pocket and he doesn't want me to go in... Then I explain in my broken mandarin and english that I can't walk... He finally lets me through... as I am getting to the casino stopped again... "You can't enter!" security says... I can't walk I say but I am very frusterated.... I roll past the man in his little red jacket and find a new game to play...

I am so frusterated at this point I keep thinking I should just leave... But I decide to see where 2000 gets me I could be gone in 10 minutes... I play pirate bay... get the bonus nothing get it agian choose a higher multiplier get nothing move on... play all games that they don't have at the venetian... find this progressive game wiht a crown where you have to get 5 of a kind with a crown and you pick a space to become a multiplier.... hit the mini progressive for 2000 HKD I was down to my last 500. Walk away I have wanted to play buffalos for the whole day... I find it on a multi play machine where you play all 4 games at a time choose 2 buffalo and two pompali or whatever they are called.... get a buffalo bonus on one and 18 aces on the other... nice hit about 4000 HKD.... get a screen full of buffalo .... immediately cash out... I now have 2 tickets for 25000 HKD get yelled at by a security guard while walking to the cage.... Decide I have had enough and leave the casino and Macau up over 51000 HKD ....

They probably could have gotten it all back at the Wynn if they wern't so rude.... Oh well

Go to the taxi line wait in line no problem... first taxi won't take me because of my walker... second taxi takes me straight back no problem... next boat leaves in half an hour only has super class seats left for 300 hkd good think i am up! I head back to Hong Kong with money burning my pockets..

I get my passport back tomorrow afternoon... and wednesday is pay day..... and I don't know when the next time I will be near a casino is but I do know I won't be back at the Wynn Macau ever...

Very cool.......I was just wondering if many on the board ever made it to Macau. Does it make Vegas look small?

I will post my pictures when I get back to mainland and have my computer... I know that some places are a lot bigger than vegas but it seems smaller to me... its very spread out if you go to the venetian its an expensive (relative to living where I live in China) cab ride back to the other casinos like wynn and MGM.

Thanks for the quickie report. Did they hassle you because of the walker? That stinks! One day I will get to Macau and hassle them with my Yankee-Mandarin. Can't wait to see the pictures and good job leaving with a win.

Good report, look forward to more pics!

Roughly what percent of the casino is devoted to slots? From what I read I assume it's not a lot. I've read video poker is terrible there too. :(

My (greedy) vote would be Macau! We won't go to Singapore for a couple more years.

I go to Macau to gamble every four to six months and all it does is make me miss Vegas. I once went on a 40 minute heater in craps @ the Cotai Sheraton (only table in the 2nd or 3rd largest casino in Macau; let that sink in for a sec) where the table was full and I was the only one betting on the pass line. I walked away with over $60k HKD but didn't really have fun doing it. Other players were either place betting or just sitting out, waiting for their turn to shoot. And baccaratt tables as far as the eye can see with some very very serious people playing and not much cheering or enthusiasm. Also, strange Black Jack rules (I think European), which I don't like. As there is no tipping culture, dont expect for the dealer to attempt to be your friend and a few have even smiled when pulling the case card to get a 21 to beat my 20, no joke.

I have to admit, the race track at the grand lisboa is entertaining people watching (maybe a discussion better left for the after dark section of this forum :poke:) and the other "entertainment" is decent (albeit pricey), if you're into that sort of thing. I only make a point to go when I really truely get the itch to gamble and a trip to vegas isnt in the cards for the next few months. Never been to Singapore but heard the table limits are similarly high but maybe the atmosphere is better?

Of course, I usually don't gamble at the level of most of the big boys here, keep it to HKD1,000 or so per hand so maybe the treatment / feeling is better?

Second trip I lost but only brought my union pay card so I still left HK with cash. I think I will only go back on the weekends, the other times I have gone have all been weekdays and I lost on all of those trips. I am sure it helped that it was at the end of Chinese National day so there had been people in the casino from mainland all week.
