    My Trip Report

This won't be live, but I'll try and take pictures as I go.

Day one, flew into LAS, smooth and easy flight. Car rental from budget was a nightmare. I should have joined their club to by pass the line, but I didn't. Line was 8 deep, that took about 45 minutes. Very precious time.

Got the car, headed down to food 4less to stock up on our trip. Stopped at m casino, I had 40 match play and 35 in fb to use up. I was lucky, double deck, played 10 hands and only lost 2 hands ( one push ).

Won my match play, pocketed 100 in profit, tipped out 20 bucks all in 5 minutes. Then my wife got impatient and the nagging began. We ended up at Anthony's burger and brew. I got the imperial burger, it's average. Large burger topped with beer braised short rib. Over shot the bill by 2.73 due to the 4 buck diet coke.

Took off towards zion national park. Currently staying at desert pearl inn. The room is quite nice for a small town near the national park . I'll take pictures in the am.

Plans, antelope canyon, the zion hiking and back to vegas on Wednesday.

I would def be interested to know about the hikes in Zion, I"m headed out next week to do that same things, and make the loop around to the South Rim of GC, and Sedona....then of course back to Vegas for more gambling!

The only thing that is undecided- is what hikes to do in Zion...

Good luck FK. Hope you enjoy Mother Nature. I made it out to Zion and Grand Canyon a few years ago and Zion was amazing.

    Zion nationa park

About 3 hours from Las Vegas, that's 2 hours closer than the Grand Canyon. Awesome place, it's smaller than the gc but that makes the hiking better. Many trails to chose from. We did the narrows hike from the bottom up. To go from the top down, requires rock climbing gear and swimming.

Started at 8 am. You drive to the visitors lodge, 25 bucks per car, unlimited ppl in car vs 12 per person on foot. We did not take the town shuttle so I'm not sure if that's free.

    Wook up to an ass,
    image.jpg

Took the park shuttle up to the last stop. Walked a mile along the river on a paved trail, the started our journey
    Random shots long the way

I have tons more, but I think the size of the cliffs are hard to capture. If you had a night and day to spare, it's definitely worth it. Red Rock canyon or mount charleston hikes in vegas can't compare. For those trying to squeeze in a Grand Canyon trip, I would try here also. It's closer and the hiking is better.

Tomorrow, I'm going to fill this tread up with chip porn.

I haven't seen it mentioned (maybe I missed it), but Angels Landing is an incredible hike:

    http://www.zionnational-park.com/zion-angels-landing-trail.htm

Agree with others touting Zion - wife and I did a whirlwind of a day trip there several years ago: left Wynn around 7am, lunch at In-n-Out in St George, hiked the entirety of Angels Landing, hit the DQ on the way out if Zion, then dinner at Aureole. Highlight of the day (if not the trip) was Angels Landing - when someone says 'knife edge' while hiking, this is what they mean.
