El Cortez ATM Rebate

Does the El Cortez still off an ATM rebate. If so how does it work, Do any other casinos offer a similar rebate ?

 

It looks like El Co still does this. 5% Freeplay on withdrawals over $200 at their ATM. Check out their website.

1st you get the money, then you take the recipt to the cage, then the players club, there are a few catches though. I think you must have played a certain amt in the last month. So first play for a hour or two, then get more money...that's the way it usually works anyway.

 

I know they give you a little bit of a hard time but http://elcortezhotelcasino.com/promotions/ doesn't mention anything about having to spend certain amount of money/time to redeem the promo. I've done it once last year and like others said you have to take ATM receipt to cash cage to get a voucher for 50$ that you then have to take to the players club. According to their website you can take advantage of it once per month.

 

I used this promotion in my August trip. When I first saw the ATM, which is adjacent to the TITO redemption machine, around the corner from the Cashier's Cage, I saw ATM fees of $18.75, up to $23.75. I almost laughed out loud at this "promotion", until I saw that these wre for Credit Card Cash Advances. A regular ATM withdrawal only has a $3.50 out-of-network fee. If you have the right bank (USAA does this), that $3.50 will be refunded to your account. Also, some banks/credit unions charge their OWN out-of-network fee(again, not USAA). So, beware of the rules of your bank or credit union.

As you saw in the excellent earlier posts,you take your receipt to the Cashier's Cage and ask for a rebate slip. A Club Cortez attendant will add the 5% to your card. This was a very smooth process, and I will be doing this again in November. I got $25 of Free Play, for a $500 in-house withdrawal, with no ATM fees whatsoever.

One small benefit to this process is that you can keep your gambling "stake" in the bank until you get to the casino. I drive a long way down Route 66, to get to Las Vegas, so I prefer to not be carrying large amounts of cash.

Another small El Cortez point: As soon as you reach 100 Base Points in any calendar day, you get to Spin 'N Win at the Club cortez kiosk. You swipe your card, then click the spin button. The prizes include $50 in Free Play and $5 in Free Play, along with minor Points prizes and the ever-present Klondike Bar prize. I have noticed that it is not random at all, but that many first-time spinners will get the $50 Free Play (followed by an interminable sequence of Klondike Bars).

This rebate is one of the many reasons why I choose the ElCo.

I'm just trying to figure this out. We haven't been to EC in 2 years but are going in 3 weeks. If we play a couple of dollars first we can each withdraw $1000 and get $50 in free play? Will the ATM allow that much of a withdrawal in one shot?

 

My banks seem to have a standard max daily ATM withdrawal limit of $400-$500. Are you people who are withdrawing $1K calling your banks to up your card limit or are your limits that high by default?

 

One of my banks had an $800/day limit, but I got them to change it to $1K. However, this bank doesn't waive the fees, so they wouldn't actually do $1K. I got $900 and $45 in free play. So I had the bank raise my daily limit to $1100/day.

 

I did this last year with no problem. On my latest trip this year, I withdrew the money ($500) and took the receipt to the cage. She told me that I had already done it. She explained that all existing players get to do this once. If you want to do it more than once (every month maybe?), you need to achieve xxx (don't remember) number of points. I had not achieved anywhere near that amount of points. I apologized and explained that I didn't know. She said she would go ahead and process it "just this once". I got my freeplay thanks to my friendly attitude and her kindness.

 

My acct had a $300 limit, I had to go into the bank and talk to someone to get it raised.

 

At Bank of America you can go to your online profile and raise the limit there. I think default is $400 and I'm assuming there is a max but it has to be very high.

 

Last year I withdrew $500 from two different accounts and they honored it for a $1,000. You have to do both before you go to the cage. She said if I had tried to do one at a time they would of only honored the first one. I would suggest checking at the cage before doing anything. It's a great promotion.

 

Well our credit union is a $500 limit and I just found out it can't be raised no way no how. Still we will pocket $21.50 which will almost pay for a steak dinner at the Redwood Grill.

 

I've done this several times.
Elsewhere I read you need to have earned 1500 points in the preceding month. But that can't be quite right as my trips are spread out much further than that, and I've had no issue doing the promo on each trip. Maybe they look at the last month with activity???

 

What other banks have no ATM fees?

 

You may find a bank that doesn't charge an ATM fee, but there still will be a fee at the ATM for using it.
